Mali Bamako 5995 AM 05/04/14 2353-0001*
« on: May 05, 2014, 0005 UTC »
Bamako better than usual with stringed folk music interspersed with French talking by OM announcer.
Off 0001* after instrumental anthem.  One of the last West Africans still on shortwave...

Not a regular visitor to southern Aust these day Chris. We often hear the carrier but the audio always seems to be "undernourished".  :) Last winter it was noted occasionally via the Long Path around 06-07. Hoping for some signals over the next couple of months.

Nice, Chris.  Have been trying for good copy over the past season. and in earnest since you posted this, without luck.  This is a shame since Mali is one of the top musical producers in Africa (Congo (both), Kenya, Tanzania, Senegal, and Guinea are others) and this station can generally be counted on for airing first-rate music.

0805 utc (1am local time) :P
9635 I had a carrier signal. And according to short-wave.info, Mali Bamako was the only station on at the time.

Bamako pretty strong 2355 6/12/04  S-9 +20 with local drumming, directly into anthem [instrumental by marching band?] then off 0000, no close down ID tonite.
