Listening on a Virgina based receiver today at 1529 UTC
the "V" antenna was weak but solid and the "D" antenna
was non-existent. This receiver uses an indoor loop
antenna.

At 1720Utc in Colorado
The Vs are weaker then the Ds once again...

Time is 2225Utc location Colorado
There are times the Ds are 1 S unite on the HQ 180...
I would say thats 6DB so again the Ds win out

(I have listened off and on thoughout the day on the FRG 8800)
on that recver the Ds win out 99 percent of the time...

This has been a lot of fun and once again thanks for this test...

Also there was what sounded like a diter close by the 12889.3khz freq
but it only was there for a min or so...2222utc

That DITTER was no friend of mine!

Thanks for the report. I've tried to monitor myself
on remote receivers with limited success. I guess
one never knows the actual condiiton of the
remote set-up and how efficient the antenna etc.
But I guess its better than no report!! I may change
out the feedline to the vertical as accomplished with
the dipole "D" side.

I haven't been able to hear the D or the V here in upstate SC, but I have the unknown ditter weakly, with some fade:

I've been listening for Ds and Vs at various points in the day for some time now, with no joy. I'll keep trying, though...

You have confirmed its existence!
I can't help as the beacon closes out
the near frequencies as its so strong.
Maybe I'll get away and give a listen on
my portable given the opportunity!
I think 12.888 Mhz is skipping over your
SC qth as you seem to copy almost all
the other beacons.

Your report is appreciated never the less.

FINALLY!

After running through my entire list with hardly a peep heard (Blinky and CO - both very weakly), I got to the memory slot for the D/V test, and guess who's there!

Finally, after trying and trying, here's the D/V test, punching right through the spread-spectrum/datastream. Apparently, the same weird ionosphere that's been keeping me from hearing but a handful of beacons over the last few days has also "bent" the skip far enough that this one's finally making the trip to upstate South Carolina.

As you can see, the dipole is going gangbusters, with the vertical having some trouble getting out this far. The signal's been weakening a bit as I typed this log, so it probably won't be here much longer, but for the time being, I've got it.

Hooray! You finally logged it!

Funny condiitons here today I take it.
That's one of the things that makes radio and its reception interesting.
If it were a mkatter of tuning onto a frequency and noting the logging,
it would be much less enjoyable. We need to live for the days where we can
bag one like you were able to report Seamus!

Listening once agasin on a Virgina based remote receiver
at 1728 UTC both the vertical and dipole antennas were about the
same strength and weak at best. On occasion the vertical "V" was
a trifle bit stronger buy not by much!
At least we know its on the air!!!

VD doing very well and on strong fade ups
Vs are almost as strong as the Ds
12889.3 khz on the FRG 8800 OFC vee

Nice to hear VD on the air....

I would think UFO might be making the trip out there.

Once again listening on a Reston Virginia remote receiver
the V antenna (vertical was considerably stronger than the "D" dipole.
Very interesting how propagation and wave angle differences indeed
do make a difference. Hopefully more reports will come in for additional
comparisons.

Got UFO at 20:54, surprisingly strong - not as much fade as yesterday.
CO is back to just plain old "CO" again - chirpy, but strong enough foe easy copy.
BC is there just enough to show up as a line of ants on the spectrogram - barely enough to hear by ear coming up through the noise when the fade is in.
Pike 78 is in there, fady, but fairly strong
Blinky sounds like it's in my back yard again
OK is coming in...well....OK.

No sign of Vs or Ds, though.

The dual call dual antenna test is over. The beacon will be shut off
today about two hours (+/-) after east coast sundown
