« on: April 11, 2015, 0134 UTC »
0132 just coming on with a song by YL
0134 punkish sx
0139 Grapevine cover
0146 now a much stronger S9 w/ unid song - the spectrum is beginning to look somewhat familiar...
0149 XLR8 ID
0153 ID w/ just a tich of reverb, and back to mx  --  really sounding great now
0157 sounds like Senegalese mx?
0219 ID over Western instrumental
0222 great show tonite! TY!
0234 Franco & TPOK Jazz - Ndaya (you rock!)  --  a song about a guy dancing for joy after escaping an arranged marriage
0308 ID  --  props still holding up nicely
0318 ID and off; very much appreciate it

S5 here initially with some ute QRM

There seems 2B some (vestigial?) carrier there; don't know who it belongs to
Carrier down to 6940 ~0140z

Thanks for the show, XLR8!

signal S9+10 here in SE SC.

Crashes are almost as big.

There is a station on LSB. The carrier may be from there.

Looking closely, it looks like a flex radio with the DSP TX buffer set low. Maybe 512 0r 1024.

Punk rock pretty loud with noise that also a bit loud. Good signal but deep fades. Just faded completely.

Coming back in very weak. CCR- Heard it on the Grapevine playing.

Thanks for the show.

I think the carrier belongs to the show. I tried filtering it out bit by bit and audio always went screwy. Like it has to have the carrier.

Tuned in at 0207 UTC to some trance music with S6 signal here into Western MA, well above the static crashes. 0210 UTC "XLR8" ID, into reggae tune and some esoteric tunage...0021 UTC with what sounds like some African highlife music! Sounding good tonight XLR8!

Late SDR Recording Catch
SINPO: 33222 - noise and fading

0149 - Positive ID with reverb by OM as: "XLR8"
into a song with some frantic guitar work (?)

Of the 3 stations on the waterfall at 0149,
XLR8, RTN and Liquid, XLR8 has the better signal, followed by Liquid and then RTN.
Only XLR8 is listenable here. Liquid and RTN are only carriers.

0153 - Spoken ID by OM
0221 - Spoken ID by OM
0303 - Voice over ID by OM
0318 - S/Off - QRT

Heard here from 0132 on the SDR recording, about an SIO 333. The signal strength increased noticeably around 0144, to an SIO 444.

Hey XLR8; been thinking about this show - a lot - and having no other means to communicate some further thoughts, I add them here.

I made a rather esoteric request (you did open the door a crack by earlier playing some African music), and you came through big time.  Not only did you play the requested artist, you played a track from what truly is my favorite album by this artist, and possibly the strongest album from the ~140 LPs in his discography.

l'Ancienne Belgique is a monster of an album, and as well as being a great example of TPOK's talent, it is one which is easily accessible to Western ears.  This particular album was recorded with production values far better than were normally used to record African music around this time, and if anybody is interested in this genre, you might want to give a listen to this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMX0ZDWcQ5g

Open up the "Read More" panel to expose a link to WorldService, which is the premier African Music download site in the Blogosphere.

My appreciation runs deep on this one, bud!
