The BBC in the UK has announced it plans to exit the shortwave bands over the coming years and focus on Digital Radio and on line broadcasting.

Likewise All India Radio has stated that it's shortwave services will be gradually downgraded due to aging SW transmitters and the increasing cost of maintaining such.  The Indian government has said the cost of replacing transmitters is out of budget guidelines and money would be better spent on digital and internet services.

So log them and QSL them while you can... ::)

Is there a recent article about BBC specifically, that you are referring to?

I heard it on either VK1WI National News or VK2WI NSW News last Sunday broadcast in general radio news.  Also read on the net somewhere that AIR was reviewing operations and was suffering from private operators on air within India too... ;)
