Didn't feel anything. There was apparently one in that area and about that size about a month ago, but again, nada.

Are there faults in that region or is it minor incline slides out on the edge of the continental shelf that is causing them?

A number of years ago we had a small quake like this under the Maine Yankee Power nuke plant.  It scared the poo out of the locals and they forced the plant to close.

Now we hear about the oceans rising but as I see it,,,  it is more likely that the coastal lands and islands are really sinking.  end of comment...

Now there is one thing I wish we could do in this Country (USA) is to chisel around the border of California then push it out to sea...  Now that would be the right thing to do... don cha thin???

Now where in the heck is my beer... oh yeah... the kitchen...  where is my compass? darn darn darn  :P

Hmm, nothing here although there was one helluva thunderstorm east of High Springs about that time. Maybe a whale farted.

From "Florida Today":

Update: Offshore 'earthquake' was likely Navy testing
Associated Press 7:52 a.m. EDT July 19, 2016

DAYTONA BEACH — An apparent 3.7 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Florida was likely triggered by a man-made explosion to test the seaworthiness of a new U.S. Navy vessel.

Seismographs detected the earthquake Saturday afternoon about 168 nautical miles northeast of Daytona Beach Shores.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports a similar 3.7 magnitude "earthquake" on June 10 off of Ormond-by-the-Sea happened about the same time the Navy reported conducting a shock trial on the USS Jackson for testing. The Navy notified the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Marine Fisheries Service that another shock trial would be conducted between July 16 and July 20.

The Navy's Sea System Command spokesman Dale Eng tells the newspaper the Navy is working on a statement to release this week.

Makes sense. We used to get mid 2-3 magnitude earthquakes due to the blasting associated with longwall mining on a semi-regular basis and occasionally from an abandoned underground mines collapsing after being sealed off decades or more ago.

There had been some speculation that this was fishermen dynamiting penguins, which are plentiful off the coast this time of year. They just float to the surface, stunned and easy to scoop up.
