WDGY 740 kHz 26 Mar 2017 UTC 2333 now in C-QUAM
« on: March 26, 2017, 2343 UTC »
While tuning around on the TS-690S today, came across local station WDGY 740. Playing the usual music, but at the moment was playing the Moody Blues. I like the song, so hit the bandwidth button to switch to 12 kHz. As I was pressing it, I thought "why, bother, they're in IBOC." Meh, did it anyway. Got it to 12 kHz and listened and it sounded great. No jamming.  ???

Hopped over to the Perseus and looked at the waveform. It was beautiful-  No IBOC and now with 20 kHz bandwidth.

Then thought, if they're that wide, I'm sure they're in C-QUAM too and gave a hearty laugh. Switched to SdrDx & the AFE822x (which had been recording DGPS), and took a close look at the carrier. And I'll be damned- two 25 kHz pilot tones.  :o

Hit the CQS button in SdrDx. Now in AM Stereo. It sounds really sweet. A tear came to my eye.

I really hope this is a permanent thing and not some weird weekend experiment.
