Very sad news
« on: August 09, 2017, 2128 UTC »
I am very shocked and saddened to report that Chris Crosby (Rafman here on HFU) has passed away. I saw this posting on Facebook a short while ago.

We have lost one of our own. Chris Crosby, K4RAF, fellow engineer, ham, and personal friend of over 30 years passed of a heart attack. He was very active in this group as well as with his own SW page. RIP ol' buddy

Needless to say this is very shocking and sad news. RIP Rafman.  :'( :'( :'(

we talked so much through email, we had alot in common with communications and gear, he gave me his phone number to chat, i didnt get around to giving him a phone call, Chris will be most surely missed now.
i am deeply filled with sorrow and severely stunned over this, the memories will always remain with me.

I am saddened to hear that RAFMAN has died. I had occasionally PM'd with him in Iann's chat room, the first time being the night of my 60th birthday back in 2015. Johnny Tobacco was on that evening with a really strong signal on 48 meters and was calling himself Stress Radio. Both RAFMAN and I were chatting and also posting comments to JT while he was on, and he was answering back over the radio! He stayed on about 3 hours talking with us and reminiscing between songs late into the night, much of it a sort of tribute to my 60th birthday. It was a memorable night for me, and while I didn't know RAFMAN personally, I did exchange the occasional email with him, as well as check out his RAFMAN Wireless Youtube site where he would post the occasional Youtube pirate/shortwave audio clip. He was a passionate shortwave enthusiast and we all lose by his passing. RIP my friend!  :'(
QSL's to poorbrookking >at< aol.com are greatly appreciated! All reception and postings using My radio, my antenna, and generally in real time(excluding posting of SSTV pics and recordings).

I had the chance to talk with Rafman on the phone a couple times.  We talked for hours about all kinds of stuff.  What a guy.  You meet people in life that make you realize we're all kinda alike....Rafman was one of them.

I'll miss ya buddy.

A very nice guy. He was a lot of fun on the boards.

Was it a sudden thing, Joe, or had he been sick for awhile?
