Testing out the big PVC loop, and I already have audio from them before 3 pm in the afternoon. Just a carrier on the beverage.

Could you ID what language it was, either Russian, Chinese, Korean, etc? And, have you ever know such a station to have  such a weak, but huge, footprint just about everywhere? Got to admit, they are handy for tuning up a MW receiver for the lower portion of the band.
“I am often asked how radio works. Well, you see, wire telegraphy
is like a very long cat. You yank his tail in New York and he
meows in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? Now, radio is
exactly the same, except that there is no cat.”

They have the advantage of no one else on 530, except for some TIS stations, and I think Cuba?

Hearing CIAO 530 @ 0318 UTC playing an instrumental version of "Cats In The Cradle" then a minute later at 0319 and instrumental version of "If You Could Read My Mind" by Anthony Ventura. Signal is not moving my S Meter and I do get interference from the NY State Thruway TIS unfortunately.

Are you sure the instrumentals are CIAO?  That sort of programming sounds more like a Cuban also known to be on that frequency, Radio Enciclopedia.

Listening at 1407z this morning, weak perhaps SIO 222. Their schedule says the programming now is South Asian/Punjabi Lehran, and it sounds like that, I also verified against their online stream.

They have a Hungarian program at 4 pm (2000z), I will have to try for that. And of course Polish at 8 pm  ;D

CIAO had rather strong sigs in here earlier in the evening but faded considerably after sunset.  CIAO is broadcasting a religious program now (0130Z Sunday 24SEP) mixing with some light instrumental music from another station on the same freq... no station ID, just one selection after another.  Went to the Radio Enciclopedia  website and got a match to their streaming audio...  nice music, enjoyable listening.

I know it's CIAO because I get stations from Canada very well here in NY. I never hear to the south, only north & west.

CIAO drops power to only 250W at night.  Unless you are in far western NY, you could be hearing the 10KW Cuban.  Listen for instrumental versions of popular tunes and a female announcer.
