Dxing Baseball Yanks/Sox ALDS Oct 5-6, 2018

So, there are at least 100 stations (AM & FM) that are part of the Yankee or Red Sox Radio Networks - most very small rural stations.  In additional, ESPN is doing a National Broadcast of the Yankee/Red Sox playoff game tonight.  I thought I would try to catch as many of those AM broadcasts that I could.

Skippy - over/under for totals of first three games:  pitchers used 40, total game time 14 hours  ;)

2251z WELI 960 New Haven, CT - Excellent Reception  John Sterling starting pre-game show, 55 degrees in Boston.  Suzyn Waldman interviewing Aaron Boone. (Yankee Affiliate, Flagship for Yale Athletics, thus "ELI")

2304z WTIC 1080 Hartford, CT - Excellent Reception  Red Sox pre-game show. Discussion on health of Chris Sale
("TIC" is for Travelers Indemnity Company.  Insurance City, what else? Perhaps the longest affiliate of the Red Sox network, since 1957, and the only 50k watt station in the network.)

2329z WADO 1280 New York City - Good Reception in Spanish. Rickie Ricardo reading a series of sponsors including Nissan "Official Automobile de Yanquis" (Yankee Spanish Flagship, really his name)

2333z WFAN 660 New York City - Excellent Reception. John Sterling with first pitch "Tall lefty deals, cut on and miss.  Good start for Sale.  Braking ball, strike three and McCutchen is out." (Yankee Flagship)

2337z WICC 600 Bridgeport, CT - Fair Reception.  "Strike three to Judge and there are two away" (Yankee Affiliate)

2352z CKGM 690 Montreal - Good reception.  "Ball four to Pearce and runners are on first and second here in the bottom of the first, no score.  Martinez with a drive to left field, a line drive over the Green Monster, and the Sox jump to a 3-0 lead". Going to commercial "Your home of the Habs" (If you have to ask, you'll never understand) ESPN Affiliate in English

0000z WVMT 620 Burlington, VT - Excellent Reception "Your home of the Yankees in Plattsburgh and Burlington WVMT 620.  Voit's up and he singles.  The legend of Luke continues". (Yankees Affiliate)

0012z WEPN 1050 New York City - Very Good Reception.  "Out y Boston tres, Nueva York cero (to commercial)" ESPN Desportes (their Spanish Affiliate)

0020z WWKB 1520 Buffalo - Excellent Reception. "Mookie catches it on the run near the Pesky Pole and fires a strike to first, almost getting a double play.  He steps on second for the force, we go to the bottom of the third, 3-0 Red Sox."  (ESPN Affiliate)

0034z WMVP 1000 Chicago - Fair reception  "Green comes set, it is deep to right, and caught at the wall by Judge.  The runner on second advances." (ESPN Affiliate)

"Your home of the Habs" for Les Habitants - Officially: le Club de hockey Canadien (Montreal Canadiens)

WTIC was rock solid for the first game. WFAN was in and out, as always. WMVP was coming in nicely, too, which was a surprise. For some reason many of the Chicago MW's don't propagate well here? The local ESPN outlet, an one lunger had it, too.  It's a tough one when they drop to night time power.

The other evening during the Cub playoff loss, I was listening to the game on WSCR 670 am Chicago and it was coming in like gangbusters.  In the second inning, I'm hearing an overpowering  Spanish station, far clearer than WSCR and completely obscuring the Windy City transmission - WWFE Miami 50k day, 1k night, huh?
