Has the debate over whether that's a hoax ever been resolved?  I recall some dispute over those photos from a year or so ago, don't recall the details, something about those photos not actually depicting the tribe in the story?

I saw a news clip on this when they were first identified. It turned out many folks in the "tribe" were locals from the missions and villages in the area. Whoever they are,I hope they're all right.

The lure of "untouched tribes" have been a big part of the tourist trade in that region of South America since the late 70's. Rich gringos pay big bucks to meet 'em and have their brains scrambled by yage administered by the local shaman.

What they don't tell the turistas is the region where Colombia,Peru,Brazil and Ecuador come together is one of the major cocaine trafficking routes in the world. It's not a paradise by a long shot.
