New Japan-test weekend for pirates
« on: October 22, 2011, 1334 UTC »
I received the following info from Harri in Finland.

Let's make this a truly international pirate weekend.  It would be interesting to see North American stations testing to both Europe and Japan.

NEW JAPAN-TEST WEEKEND FOR PIRATES ON 10-28 MHz!
SATURDAY 5.11.2011 and SUNDAY 6.11.2011.

The sun has reactivated F2-layer and higher SW-frequencies are now open daily
up to 28 MHz from Europe to USA and Asia (and vice-versa).
It is now time to arrange new test day for pirates to reach other continents
on SW. Last time in January 2011 it was succesfull.

Saturday 5.11 and Sunday 6.11.2011
MORNING 08.00 - 12.00 UTC from Europe to Asia/Japan
AFTERNOON 12.00 - 16.00 from Europe to USA

Let's hope this gives positive feelings to Japan who has not yet survived from
the terrible tsunami. We here in Finland have learned from the media that
Japanese ARE extremely persistent and strong people!! Let's hope there is
now again many listerners to join this!

But this weekend is for all SW-pirates to reach other continents. I know there
are stations also in USA to try to Europe and Japan. Also many stations in
Holland, UK and Finland will certainly join this.

I will publish more exact times later (Wintertime-change on 30.10.2011) and
also list of the stations (first with XXXX-markings) with times and frequencies.

MORE INFO ON MY PIRATE-BLOG:
www.hkdx2.blogspot.com

Contact me asap if you join to broadcast.
Let's make this pirate-hobby global again.

Regards,

Hari has posted an update on the site listed above.  So far, 9 stations have indicated that they will be testing this weekend on the higher bands. Exact station names and schedules will be listed soon, but experienced euro DXers should be be able to ID the stations on Hari's blog from the number of X's.  I am expecting a good weekend, and experience has shown that other stations may join the fun.

Note:  Europe changed times last weekend, so we are one hour closer to them for one week.  This may be a good weekend to check 76, 48 and 43m around sunset.  It is quite possible more euro-ops than usual will still be up and on the air.

Also helps if you want to test to Europe. ;-)

Cheers, Terry
