Radio Mali 5995 am 0558 UTC 8 Jun 2019
« on: June 08, 2019, 0702 UTC »
Radio Mali via Bamako at 0558-0632 UTC. Signed on with what sounded like singing/chanting at 0558 UTC, followed by a female announcer in French giving the frequency information, then opening music and more singing/chanting again into more music as the signal weakened as 0630 arrived.

I've only logged Radio Mali a couple of times since it reactivated earlier this year, but this was the best I'd ever heard them way out here; SINPO 23332 until the signal started fading. Importantly, Radio Habana Cuba wasn't slopping over much from 6000 kHz, which helped a lot.

Yep, it all depends on how sloppy Radio Habana's signal is up here. Last night, RHC was again somewhat muted, leaving 5995 kHz pretty clear here, but Radio Mali was nowhere to be found.

In the meantime, I finally posted video of the June 8 reception: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdPDlxM6TfE

Just an update on this: Radio Habana Cuba has been so relatively muted on 6000 kHz most nights lately here that Radio Mali at 0600 UTC has become a routine catch for me this month, even when overall propagation conditions haven't been great.

It's obviously never a huge signal (it's listed as using 50 kilowatts), but the French news and/or music is usually legible enough until 0645-0700 UTC, when daylight starts hitting Mali and fading out the broadcast. That's been the case tonight so far.
