Just before work, I heard CB CH6 rockin', then LSB CH38, where I heard a dude from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Then, very weak, but heard Ft. Lauderdale again on 10M, 28.400MHz. Then, I had to go to. However, on a COVID-19 Repeater Net, Net Control wanted to wrap-it-up to work GA and FL on 6M, just after 9PM EST. (Figures... I always miss the good stuff.)

“I am often asked how radio works. Well, you see, wire telegraphy
is like a very long cat. You yank his tail in New York and he
meows in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? Now, radio is
exactly the same, except that there is no cat.”

In Florida, 6 meters SSB opens to somewhere almost every day of the week.

That is called Tropospheric Propagation.

When you get north of the Mason Dixon Line and hear someone on 6 meters, that is called a band opening.
