I missed out on the last cycle pretty much. I returned momentarily to SWLing in 2002-2003, and the cycle was on the downward trend. Of course, since I did most of my DXing on 41 and 31 meters, it was kind of beneficial, esp. to 41 meters.
Now I've gotten back into the SWL hobby again, I notice the high bands just haven't been hopping that much. Not even 15 meters. I heard some activity last weekend on 15 during the Asian QSO party; and in the spring, during the big worldwide ham DX contest 15 and 10 were active, but the rest of the time it seems the high bands are mostly dead. Even skip on the CB band is spotty.
Of course, some of that is due to location. I keep reading on other forums that in the South and Midwest there is a lot of activity on the high bands.
