Beacon At 4069.41 kHz?
« on: April 22, 2021, 0344 UTC »
Anyone hearing the CW beacon at 4069.41? Been tracking this beacon  for several days time before confirming it may be a beacon and not some artifact of another modulation type.

At 0314Z, 579 at this location, with deep QSB. Keyed at ~1.25 second dash, 1 second space.

Any idea of location?

Heard last night before bed on VE7GL and VE7AV in Chilliwack and Prince George, BC respectively SDR's. Good haul!

Heard at this location at 0333, 559. Much weaker that prior nights, also less or almost no QSB.

This long "dasher" is still active at 4069.41. Good copy, 579 after sunset.  Since this beacon is not groundwave to this location it's only heard here between sunset and sunrise.

Anyone else hearing this beacon?

I was talking to a friend last night and he showed me pictures of a hobbyist style desert radio beacon that was on 4069 KHz. It was battery powered, solar charged and ran only at night. He and his friends discovered it while off roading (March 2023?) and they made repairs to the antenna and some other things. I'll see if he can share some of the pictures without giving away the location.

Here is a pix without any location data. Half wave dipole fed at the center located at the top of the pole. Electronics box is buried under the solar panel. At the top there is a horizontal black zip tie which has not been trimmed.

I'm hearing it at home on 4069.43 and on the KFS Kiwi I can get that plus tune over to the second harmonic 8138.86
