0258utc woman's voice cutting through quiet conditions on my beverage aimed in the general direction of the Appalachians. Earlier there was little bits of hill-music.
I'm very excited for this catch, its my first time hearing it! Its been on my radar for about a year or more.

0305ish, carrier gone

Wow, I think this may have been the station I heard.

0055 utc I heard AM with LSB interference. So in USB I heard some guitar music and ID: "Nonstop Radio" or "Radio Nonstop" I forget which order.  Then it stopped or faded out.  Is Nonstop Radio a station that Liquid transmits? Maybe I heard another station.

Update:
0224, about 30min ago I heard some nice techno music with bass with another Radio Nonstop ID. And I heard it more better when I switched from my loop to my beverage.

Thanks much for the links! I'll check those out.

This morning I hooked it up to another computer, my laptop.  And the other computer's monitor still gave interference, but less.  It went away when I turned it off.  So this makes me think the monitor's bad vibes are getting into my coax which would be a common mode problem.

I have a dream of the coax into a common mode choke, then into the SDR which is in a faraday cage, and then out of the SDR with the USB cord with ferrites that leads to the computer.   :)

I wrapped my antenna coax twice around 2 ferrites and some overall noise was attenuated but not the 60kHz stuff.

I'll have to get back to you on the shack grounding.

260
Oop, yes, 60 kHz intervals for the noise.

I tried ferrites with my 15pin VGA cable.  Two ferrites with the cable coiled twice.  Nothing noticeable changed.

Both of my antennas are fed with 75ohm coax left over from old cable installation. Less than 10 yrs old cable.  They come into the room's sliding glass door, on the floor.  They run under the table with the monitor to my SDR which is on the floor.

I got a new SDR and my LCD computer monitor really creates some interference. When I turn off the monitor, the interference goes away. Monitor is connected via serial type cable.

My SDR has one cable, its a USB that goes to the computer.  I obtained 4 toroid ferrites, stacked them, and wrapped the USB cable about 8 times around them. This made the noise go down a lot.  And it refined the noise.

The noise appears in 60hZ increments.

I use an 8-plug surge protector on my computer.  If I plug the monitor and computer directly into the wall socket the noise is still there.

Is this a ground loop?  How can I alleviate this?  Thanks.

There is the Jackite pole that is found on amazon.com

Re: tape mast, wow, my old coworker talked about using a "tape type" antenna. This must be it. Very cool.

Tonight, there's a woman's voice in a recorded loop.  Sounds African.  Better reception than the other night.  Oh, the loop just stopped and music, then a man. Could have given ID but I've got no clue what is being said.

264
Faint USB audio, I can tell its music.
Sun is up here in CA.
0020 I heard an ID that had the same sylables as Radio Molotov. I hear some peskie too.

Fairly good reception here.  S7 on my meter.  Woman announcer and long winded man (that sounds like he's been recorded from a telephone conversation).  Sounds like African language.

It doesn't show up in my list or on Short-wave.info website.  Even if the station ID'd itself, I'm not sure I would realize it. Any ideas?

0017 Carrier wave here in CA with the sun still up.

Huh? / Re: SDR waterfall visions

Sheesh, none of that green shtuff.  Have you ever done a lot of repetitious things and then saw that when you closed your eyes?

I've had it happen before, like when I would weed a lot: at night I close my eyes to go to sleep and I see the top view of the weed species I was weeding.

Software / Re: What Radio related software would YOU like to see?
« on: January 22, 2015, 1804 UTC »
An SDR remote for iPad would be very useful:

-For finding interfering devices
-For adjusting the antenna
-For doing experiments (I'm imagining a wire on a jackite pole and moving it around like one ear of a big bunny ear antenna).

It wouldn't require hi fidelity, just something to see instant feedback. One could adjust a random wire without going all the way back into the shack.

Huh? / SDR waterfall visions

Watching my new SDR's waterfall is so neat.

After I listen/watch, when I close my eyes I see waterfalls of AM transmissions. They're pretty well defined.  And then in the morning before any radio, I've seen perfectly vertical lines a couple times when I close my eyes.  I think I need to arrange the signals horizontally so I can give my eyes/brain a thorough work out.

So yesterday, I was outside and my eyes were drawn to a jet's contrail with the notion it was a signal on a waterfall!

I even used a new phrase the other day, "I'm going to go watch my radio."

Does this happen to anybody else?

Wow, it sounds great here on my big speakers. There was a big collage of pro-pirate principles.    18kHz wide signal. Little fading, getting better as sun sets.

Its the first time receiving it on my new SDR.

Thanks, XFM, at first I thought it was a legit station on account of its good waterfall signal.
