Radio Trans Mundial/TWR Bonaire 800 kHz 02:00 UTC Jan 31 2002

Actually tuned in at 01:30 UTC and listened until just after 02:00. Received on a small, indoor, passive, non-resonant, single wire loop antenna. Good signal tonight and have posted a YouTube clip "Radio Trans Mundial ID" with ID at about thirty seconds in:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZ5E62jl-Us

My QTH is about 1500 miles from Bonaire and I believe that they are using 400+ KW - signal beamed North (towards Cuba) each day until 03:00 UTC.

If you'd like to experiment with one of these loop antennas - they are easy to make and I will include a link to a ham website that has some detailed info at the end of this post.

The loop is very directional and often can null out interfering stations. One word of warning though - these small loops have very low signal outputs. A good, sensitive receiver is suggested for DXing. Eventually I plan to test a few antenna mounted pre-amps as well.

Here's the link to the small loop ham page :

UNID 1710 AM (listening in USB) 0610 UTC 27 JAN 2022

Music mixing in with and frequently dominating the NJ Covid TIS on 1710 kHz - heard at least one announcement when they were fading but tough to make much out of it - occasionally the music totally dominates the frequency but it only lasts a short while. Listening in USB with good clarity - too much splatter from 1700 in AM mode. They seem to be zero beat very well the TIS.

At 02:50 UTC Jan 7 2022 / 9:50 PM US Eastern Time...

"Mystery 21 - The Spirit of Music" - 4870 kHz - Germany/Holland? - programming in English right now - at 02:52 they made solid ID and gave email address / Facebook page - now playing music again.

Not super strong and static crashes to boot - but still good enough for solid ID. First time I've heard this one.

Shortwave Broadcast / WWRB - 3360 kHz AM - 03:50 UTC DEC 27 2021

At 03:50 UTC Dec 27 2021 / 10:50 PM US Eastern Time...

Unidentified (WWRB, Manchester, TN?) - VERY STRONG signal - 3360 kHz AM mode - 40 over S9 with distorted audio - playing music - songs in English language so far. I have never logged anything here - waiting for ID.

UPDATE : 04:00 - just ID'd in English - as "WWRB on 3.360 "megacycles" - they actually used the word megacycles - unusual. Mystery solved.

Radio Brasil Central - 11815 kHz AM - 02:35 UTC DEC 27 2021

Programming in Portuguese and playing music with just a few announcements - fair signal with some noise and QSB but very listenable tonight. Listed as 7.5 KW. Most likely non-directional.

UNID 2280 kHz AM 02:26 UTC DEC 27 2021... have listened to this UNID station - sometimes with audio - on and off for several days.

Right now very strong carrier but no audio. Zero beats in SSB at 2280.08 kHz.

ABBY - 13564.7 kHz - 22:05 UTC Dec 26 2021

Weak signal that fades out completely but then fades back in to 539/549 peaks. First time logging this one. Also hearing KAH and ODX right now as well.

40
NDB2 - 13554.07 kHz - 20:37 UTC Dec 24 2021

QSB with peaks 559/569 but does out completely at times...

41
Good copy on ODX - 13566.5 kHz - QSB and fades out sometimes but 559/569 at peaks

Also good copy on KAH - 13566 kHz - QSB / fade in-out / 559/569 peaks

2280 kHZ - weak signal but does fade in (strong) enough to hear music clearly and Spanish language programming. Nominally 2280 kHz but zero beats in SSB around 2280.08 kHz.

Have heard this one on and off for days now...still haven't had a signal peak at the same time they are giving ID.

UPDATE : at 02:38 there is no audio - carrier only and much stronger.
02:41 Off the air - no carrier at all now.

Have tuned across the 22M ISM before but never at the right time apparently because yesterday - not only did I log my first ever 22M beacon - I logged five more too.

First was "NDB2", followed by "WV", "RF", "KAH","WAS" and "AN2". All with good signals (at times) but heavy QSB and they would all fade in and out. Strongest was NDB2 - reaching a solid 569 briefly. All were at CW QSO quality at some point.

Always amazed at what low power is capable of doing when conditions are right.

UNID music broadcast 2280 kHz 10:37 UTC DEC 18 2021

NO ID - 2280 kHz - 2280.08 approximately if you are zero beating in SSB. Very weak music/broadcast show in Spanish(?).

Audio is not great sounding. Fades in and out. Most likely BCB harmonic but maybe pirate?

UPDATE at 11:52 UTC .... it's been fading out for a while now, also received on several online SDRs - but nothing further North than mid-Atlantic US East Coast. Strongest SDRs were in the South but none quite as strong as I'm hearing it. Carrier (in SSB mode) is lost in noise sometimes now - only whispers of audio at this point but def sounded like a broadcaster and not a pirate...will try again tonight / tomorrow morning.

North American Shortwave Pirate / UNID 6935 LSB 0207 UTC 1 Dec 2021

UNID 6935 LSB - yes LSB 02:07 UTC 1 Dec 2021 tuned in at 02:05 and couldn't tune it in - switched to LSB and bam!

At 02:08 playing Elton John, signal cuts out completely but very intermittently. Just as I was typing they went completely off of the air then back on a minute or two later and now off again. Fist time I've heard LSB here...
