North American Shortwave Pirate / Mustang Radio 8/16

I'm a little late posting this log and I'm going on memory. When I got home yesterday afternoon I flipped the radio onto 6925 and was surprised to hear a very strong AM signal playing music. Thought it was a stateside station but it turns out it was Mustang Radio from Holland! He was S9+10 with excellent audio. Email address of mustangradio@live.nl. Announcements in English. The operator hangs out in Iann's Pirate Chat and will acknowledge reception in real time. The time was about 2225z through at least 2240z I believe. Music from Whitesnake, U2, Dire Straits and others. Reception was on a TS-480 with a 40m dipole. Hopefully we will have more persistent conditions like this as we go into the fall.

Utility / Some 11175 logs.

I'm spending this beautiful summer day inside with the radios because I screwed up my back. 

Here's a few logs from 11175 KHz earlier this morning.

1430z BRIGHT WARRIOR calling ANDREWS MOBILE and then any station for a radio check; no joy on either.

1457z KING 76 calling MAINSAIL for a radio check. He refers to the frequency as "One-One Upper". Puerto Rico responds, KING 76 has him 5x5.

1511z TEN FOOT (?) calling OFFUT several times. OFFUT finally responds after several minutes. OFFUT requests QSY to 11220 KHz.

WBOG 6925 AM from at least 2015z. Various music of a wide different type and then "WBOG" ID that sounds like a HFGCS EAM at 2057z.

Bitch Radio is on 6913.6 AM, 1/1 at 1452z with "Bitch Radio" ID and a strange conversation between an OM and YL about "white man's bitch". S7 signal with some fading in Boston burbs.

Northwoods Radio is up on 6925 USB with a beautiful S9+10 signal, Northwoods ID at 1449z then back into music.

Radio Free Euphoria (presumed WBNY relay) on 6900 KHz at 1559z. Weak, S2 max signal here in the Boston burbs but clear audio from Captain Ganja and the Maharishi.

I have something on 6875.3 KHz at 2141z. Various tones/honks and a male announcer (?) periodically speaking. I can't recover any ID though. Station is getting killed by very high noise level.

I ran across the Kinks playing on 6375 KHz at 2214z. Currently waiting for an ID but according to #pirateradio this is Captain Morgan. About S7 signal with moderate fading.

MW Loggings / Radio Torrente de Vida 1690 KHz (Boston area)

Monday night at approximately 5:20 PM I logged "Radio Torrente de Vida" on 1690 KHz. Hadn't heard this one before. This station apparently operates from a church in Lynn, Massachusetts. It is fairly representative of one of the multitude of ethnic pirates that operate in the Boston area. I caught it from about 2.5 miles away from their claimed location, using my car radio while waiting in the parking lot of a train station. The station was playing Spanish language pop music with occasional identifications. Decent signal, but I suspect that this station probably does not run a lot of power and is probably only audible in a very local area.
