Hearing UNID on 6220.8 KHZ here too at about equal level with 6205 KHZ tonight. Fair amount of band noise and fading here though...
0022 Bouncing back and forth between Magic6250 and 6221-Test tonight and Magic had slight edge at peaks between fades (S7 for 6205 and S5-6 for 6221).... 6221 Closed down a little while ago.

Magic into Western MA at 2200 UTC tune in with fair signal and moderate fading.  :)
Signal is picking up now at 2230 UTC, but reception not quite as good as over the past weekend. Sun will be setting here so we'll see how things are coming along. So the official name is MAGIC6205? Sounds good to me :)
0010 UTC Nightime has set in here and I've been listening on and off over the last hour or so to mostly European Pop tunes with occasional ID's. Signal fade rather wide with peaks of S7. At peaks, well above the band noise :) Switching back and forth between Magic and 6220.8 KHZ (S5-6 peaks), and 6205 has the slight edge.

Have had a carrier since just after 2100 UTC, now I'm getting threshold audio rising up above the noise floor at 2125 UTC. Still too weak to ID songs, though. Sunset is around 2223 UTC here today.
Hmmm...The carrier seems to have disappeared at 2140 UTC check ???
0001 UTC I guess the Magic op is taking a night off >:(

Huh? / Re: Paul Revere (Paul Revere and the Raiders) dead at 76

One of the finest guitar riffs ever recorded is the intro to "Kicks". I always loved that song.

Sorry Al. I'll try real hard to behave, but when I quit drinking in 2004 I thought those voices would go away.

Huh? / Paul Revere (Paul Revere and the Raiders) dead at 76
« on: October 06, 2014, 0239 UTC »
Paul Revere, leader of the 1960s rock band Paul Revere and the Raiders, died Saturday at his home in Idaho, the band's website reported. He was 76.

Revere -- whose birth name was Paul Revere Dick, according to a biography on the Internet Movie Database -- was frontman for the band that often performed in three-cornered hats and other clothing harking back to the American Revolution.

Revere was born in Nebraska and played in bands in Idaho and Oregon, according to a tribute on the band website written by Roger Hart, who managed the group in the early days. Hart said he took the band to Hollywood and signed them to a deal with CBS/Columbia Records.

The band recorded a string of hits in the 1960s and early 1970s, including "Kicks," "Hungry" and "Indian Reservation." Revere, the band's organist, had a hyperactive effervescent stage personality and came to be known as "the madman of rock 'n' roll."

In a tribute on the band's website, a fan remembered seeing the band for the first time.

"My dad took me to a Paul Revere and the Raiders concert in Buffalo NY in April of 1967," she wrote. "I think other than the male acts he was the ONLY man there. He said he was deaf for a week afterward, but he admitted he'd enjoyed the show and the Raiders. The Raiders were always fun and in good taste, parents didn't have to worry."

The band's fame grew as the Raiders appeared on "Dick Clark's American Bandstand," "Where the Action Is," the "Ed Sullivan Show," the "Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" and even the "Batman" television show, Hart wrote.

Revere recognized his debt to Clark. In a CNN.com story, Revere wrote about seeing his mentor six weeks before Clark's death in 2012.

"I gave him a hug and told him everything I have and everything I am I owe to him," Revere wrote.

The band became a fixture on the oldies circuit in later years and had a tour scheduled to start in November.

Revere's cause of death was not disclosed, but Hart said Revere died "peacefully."

Besides Revere, the original Raiders included Mark Lindsay, Phil Volk, Drake Levin and Mike Smith, the website said. Levin and Smith have died.

The mention of Denmark that you heard slowtrain, was the LHH DJ acknowledging an email from a listener in Denmark! Also mentioned was that Laser Hot Hits was going to be carried live on Magic Int'l on Sundays. Not sure what time though, but I'm looking forward to this! :)

11471
I'm not taking notes like last night, but I could't help myself when I heard LHH op give Steve Olson a shoutout at 2350 UTC! This is a rebroadcast of LHH's live program last night, so you were acknowledged then live. The LHH DJ read some of your comments Oly1959! ;D
Another great night for propagation from Europe...nice S7 signal with a little bit of fading

11472
Nonstop tunes from 2235 UTC including tunes by Don McClean, Doobie Brothers, Eagle, Steely Dan, Gerry Rafferty. Only ID heard was at 2320 UTC. Nice S5-S7 signal with fading almost at level with Magic Int'l on 6205

The outskirts of the 49 meter band is opening up now to the east coast of North America and first up for the evening is Laser Hot Hits being relayed by Radio Magic Int'l at 2145 UTC tune in with signal fading in and out of the noise floor . I received a very nice email from the team at Magic and they said that they would be on 6205 this evening because some other free radio stations would be using 6200 today. They plan on continuing relays of Laser Hot Hits in addition to their own programming, as well as possible relays of other European operators in the near future. Details are forthcoming and a LOT OF WORK is going into making all this happen. A website is in the works, the technicals are being worked on, with a possible station name change. Reception reports are going to be most welcome, but it will be a couple of weeks before everything is in place, so listeners are asked to be patient for a little bit longer :) The Magic team is definitely NOT trying to be elusive...it takes a lot of hard work to get this thing going and the station plans on being very interactive with the listeners. The Magic team has made it quite clear that the listeners are very much appreciated and that they need a bit of time so as not to get overwhelmed...reception reports will be verified with eQSL's in the next few weeks, so hang onto your hat and give the Magic team a chance to finish up the details. A formal announcement from the Magic team will be forthcoming shortly! :)
2200 UTC Signal is up to S3 now and if conditions are like last night, reception should be really great tonight!

One last check before I hit the sack and Laser "live" is S8 here at 0220 UTC :)

Black Arrow here with S7 peaks and superb audio at 1345 UTC.  Music booming in, and great copy on announcements between fades. Close down after Small Faces tune at 1358 UTC. Very happy to finally get a solid logging! Thanks Mr BA!!! :)
