10/11 meters / 10 Meter Eastern Atlantic/Carribean 25 Apr 2024 2000-2100

Numerous 10 meter very weak/readable Amateur Radio between 28.115-28.520 USB. Eastern Azores, South America. None of them were registering any S units on the signal strength meter.

Oddly, I did not hear anything stateside throughout the day, even down into 11 meters.

Nothing out of the ordinary, pirates are quiet tonight, so I taken a spin over to NMF. Solid S9+ here in Northeast Nebraska.

I was trying for KVM 70, nothing, but WWVH over on 10mhz (Completely covering WWV) and 15mhz is blasting in S20+. Kinda odd....Usually if WWVH is in KVM 70 is as well.

10/11 meters / 27.7000 SSTV and others 1750Z

SSTV all over 27.7000 this morning, most of the stations doubling over each other. The last image may be my first Trans-Atlantic, or polar path SSTV image I have received.

Not to mention, 11/10 is hot here in Nebraska this morning! Got UK CB 27.781 very active. 10 meters reaching over the pond into UK, et., al.

Heavy pileup on 27700 this morning. A lot of the images received were distorted or due to the pileup, OTH radar and heavy fading. Here are the best ones I have received thus far, and the SSTV continues to pour in.

Busy SSTV traffic over 27.7000. A lot of the transmissions are not triggering RXSSTV due to low signal levels. However, I have the trigger set high to keep the "noise" out.

I did catch a couple pics out of France, but didn't reach for the save as button fast enough....ugh!




This was an interesting one. It's first transmission was over SSTV digital DRM, but didn't decode for whatever reason over EasyPal. 2nd transmission started then abruptly ended as shown in the image. There was a 3rd transmission, however outbanders over on 27.695 all but wiped out the decode, they were 20+/9 with lots of splatter. Even with the filters on. Quite possibly have been somebody nearby. IC-7100 Filters are very robust, but whoever it was, busted through it.

1850-Got a few QSO's in Cantonese?? Mentioning locations around LA, very strong, well over S20+
1835-Some SSTV from Florida in as well.
1800-N1KPO repeater out of Connecticut near full quieting at times.

Very good 11/10 meter conditions into Nebraska this afternoon!

Very active SSTV action over 27.7000 this morning. Signal strengths are not the greatest at my QTH but there were a few that triggered RX-SSTV









The images continue to pour in. I think it is safe to say 11/10 meter skip season is roaring to life!
Lots of USB traffic across the "freeband"....Notably, 10 meters has very little voice or CW activity except for FT8 over on 28.082.00

0558-Folk song about the St. Patrick's Battalion.
0603-Country song-Signal strength has dropped off the cliff, barely reaching S3 at times.
0606-Another PSA "Sex offender shuffle"

It's about done at my QTH, QRN increasing from storms rolling off the Black Hills. Very tough copy after 0608. Around S1-3 a lot of fading.

1550-I don't wander much into 11 meters, a long shot, but a man that sounds just like Zeeky playing industrial/metal/techno music playing w/occasional rants about POTUS, ham radio operators. Decent S5, been on for about 15 minutes now, along with me trying to stomach the other QRM/nonsense.
