Listening a few guys talking on 27420 LSB. Not the usual smattering of guys found elsewhere in the band, these seemed mostly normal. Decent signals, no overmodulated. Unsure where they're from, but the band is open to the SE, so guessing down there.

I even remember seeing a military convoy driving down 95 and the lead humvee had a Wilson 5000 CB antenna slapped on the roof (as well as VHF FM SINCGARS antennas).  Interoperability, yo.

That actually makes a lot of sense as can get road conditions easily. Also if there are any smokeys up ahead.

Fearder Lt? Unlikely. 0.5 kHz channel is a bonus, but time seems a bit late for them. They're UTC+2 with sunrise at 04:06 local time (or, sunrise at 02:06 UTC). This decode came in 6 hours after sunrise, plus over the pole with daylight up there.

The guys on 28 the other day were on the interstate and only were talking for a short bit. 28 was otherwise quiet.

The other locals that I've found up one band I think was on ch 14 up there. 27.575 sounds familiar, but I haven't heard them for a while so unsure.

Tuned around the band now (2250 UTC) and its open a bit. 6,11 and a few others, but not much out of band.

I haven't noticed that around here. Its usually dead here for local use.

The truckers usually stick to 19, but I did hear a couple the other day on 28.

There's a couple of guys that I've heard now & then (very sporadically) "up one band."

Way back in the late 80's, my friends & I were on 27 as our home channel. Those losers didn't have SSB.

At 0,0,1, I've always seen multiple per second (1-5 (albeit 4 is rare and 5 is extremely rare) on both Mac & Windows. That behavior is consistent¹ between the two platforms.

While changing it would be a lot of work, but I think having a unique identifier (timestamp+zCount) would be very useful to make sure the data is accurate.


¹ While they both exhibit this behavior, multiple runs, even on the same machine, produce slightly different results. This really does not make sense.

Which then brings up the number of decodes per second.

The timestamp has a resolution of 1 second, but there can be multiple messages per second. In the decode output, can you have it additionally log the Z-count with the timestamp? That would make every decode unique and would be able to find dupes easier.

I put in -25, 25, and 1.

Ran it for 10 seconds and St Paul had 663 decodes, Wisconsin Pt 162, Rock Island 285, and Mequon with 271.

Does it normally ignore dupes too? I frequently get 2-4 decodes without the intense decode. Doing math, I can see how there can be up to three decodes per second at 200 bps (using 1 second resolution). Unsure how I've had 4 or even very rarely 5.
