8097 LSB is S9 +10 today, 17 JAN 2019 in Denver. This one is usually the strongest of the three daily broadcasts but especially so this morning.

Perhaps not great DX given its location in Alberta, but a first for me. Religious music (one song was actually not half bad) without commercials, station only ID's as "AM 1140" but was able to hunt it down online and confirm audio with its livestream. Was a solid copy at SIO 233, but faded by the time I began writing this post (0627z).

Good signal here, stronger than many pirates of late. Thanks for the show!

Faint, playing blues music and sent at least one SSTV.

Various SSTV's sent (I think three altogether) but this last one at about 0416 was the best quality.

3141
I copied all of these but they were pretty bad quality.

Thanks RH! Will adjust...

0300 faint bluesy tune being copied here. Thanks for the show!
0301 new song began, much stronger signal now. Not strong enough to overcome background noise but very good.
0317 SSTV

0102 pretty weak signal tonight.  :'(
0108 using Token's kiwi SDR in the Mojave, and it's better there but still pretty weak. Wolverine has all but disappeared at my QTH as the band goes long and the MUF sinks.

0133 signal's completely gone in Colorado and faded bad in California... maybe Wolverine could be persuaded to QSY and replay the show?

Thanks Wolverine! Signal's only about S4 on the S meter here, but it should be a stable frequency.

0038 Got it here in Denver with a fair and clean signal. Sounds like Mozart but I'm not willing to bet anything on it.
0039 OM announcing music, just weak enough that it's hard for my damaged ears to make out
0040 Just heard an announcement for an FM station, 99.5 W something. Relay of someone's local classical station?
0042 more solo piano classical music, sounds like a late 19th century composer.
0044 clearly heard WCRB called. Seems to be a relay like I thought.
0044 suddenly cut out and became recent era soul music.
0045 marine weather forecast
0045 heartland rock now
0046 political talk. Heard them say something about primarying Cory Gardner, one of my state's US senators
0047 music
0052 back to the classical station

2304 Damn, can't believe I forgot to turn on the recorder. Hearing a pretty decent copy of "American Pie." Thanks for the show!

I have no idea why these uploaded into such huge images. Chris, any idea? Anything I can do at the imgur end to change that?

SDR - Software Defined Radio / Re: KiwiSDR antenna question
« on: January 12, 2019, 0617 UTC »
I have two LoG antennas. The first is 50 ft (total length, roughly a square 12 ft on a side), and works well on 25m and up. The smaller is 350 ft total length, not a square, sorta a deformed rectangle. Works best on LW/MW and the lower part of HF.  If you have a high noise environment, I'd consider giving one a try.

p.s. I am going to have some inexpensive fixed value matching transformers for sale shortly, suitable for LoGs and other antennas.

That gives me some ideas. I don't have a lot of wiggle room thanks to that power drop bisecting the backyard, but maybe something can be done. Thanks.

SDR recording catch, on at 0001, off at 0004, back on at 0013. Faint signal here fighting a losing fight with local QRN and OTHR blasts. My copy of the SSTV isn't worth sharing, but thanks for the show!
