I know this is about climate and it is just an abstract but the solar part etc, plays into future propagation.  vgw

Multi-millennial-scale solar activity and its influences on continental tropical climate: empirical evidence of recurrent cosmic and terrestrial patterns
J. Sánchez-Sesma Instituto Mexicano de Tecnología del Agua, Jiutepec, Morelos, Mexico
Received: 02 Jun 2015 – Accepted: 14 Jun 2015 – Published: 24 Jul 2015
Abstract. Solar activity (SA) oscillations over the past millennia are analyzed and extrapolated based on reconstructed solar-related records. Here, simple recurrent models of SA signal are applied and tested. The consequent results strongly suggest: (a) the existence of multi-millennial (~ 9500 years) scale solar oscillations, and (b) their persistence, over at least the last glacial–interglacial cycle. This empirical modelling of solar recurrent oscillations has also provided a consequent multi-millennial-scale experimental forecast, suggesting a solar decreasing trend toward Grand (Super) Minimum conditions for the upcoming period, AD 2050–2250 (AD 3750–4450). Also, a recurrent linear influence of solar variation on continental tropical climate (CTC) has been assessed for the last 20 kyr, and extrapolated for the next centuries. Taking into account the importance of these estimated SA scenarios a comparison is made with other SA forecasts, and their possible associated astronomical forcing and influences on past and future CTC discussed.

The HRO is a prize...  enjoy it because it is one of the earliest of the best!

well...

It depends on what you are using this amp for...  If it is for continuous operation say RTTY or continuous AM operation never go above the CCS specs... and I mean ever!

RCA says 45 watts... well RCA tends to over rate 811's.  use 35-40 watts as the absolute maximum.  There is a much better version of the 811...  but I don't remember the numbers <sigh>

This Ameritron version has 3 811's so... (hopefully 811A's) 100 watts at best.  Personally I would NEVER go over 100 watts with this amp in the continuous AM mode.  Keep the drive low in the AM mode and bring it up to 100 watts.  And make damned sure your SWR is as close to 1.1 as possible... altho SWR really don't mean a crap but do it anyway to keep the tubes happy.

Remember this REALITY!!!  Doubling 100 watts is 200 watts but that double increase in power only realizes a small 3 db increase on the receive side!  As far as the listener is concerned 3db is hardly noticeable to them.  It's no big deal!  Receiver S-meters are the biggest lairs in the radio world.

The important point is this:  The only thing is to be heard and to hell with S-meter readings because they are pure BS.

Be kool and run it Cool... OK?

Well so many animals can see light that we can't... recently the scientists (?) claim that cats can see UV light.  They went on to explain that cats can see where the other cat 'sprayed' as UV light.  For us mere humans we don't 'see' it we smell it...

Yep, that damned Tom cat from across the street has been spraying the hedges again...

Seeing microwaves...???!!!  Last time I tried that trick my brain ended up looking like scrambled eggs and I thought I was back in the 1960's taking a trip without leaving the farm.

Where am I ?????
I meant this as a serious question.... (thump thump thump).  It occurred to me after dumping out all my crayons out of the box. I want more color... (colour to you Brit folks).

So.... I pose the question once again... <read first post please>

261
Ok, time for me to get serious so here goes,

What would audio, RF or etc looks like if we could see them?

Of course this would require that we extend what we call the existing light(colour) spectrum.

I realize we have test equipment that allows us to 'see' such things but what do you think these things would really look like?

Serious replies welcome but let's keep it also on the lighter side too, so funnies/jokes/etc are allowed.

Any artist in the group?  Dreamers?  Far visioned (no pun intended) folks... etc etc.  Sometimes it pays to think like a child because they often have answers that we adults often cannot see...

Think about it...

 :)

A contest...

Here's the picture:

For the fun of it I recorded about an hour of what I heard on 7610usb (sri) for you folks that are audio gurus or have much better audio gear than I have here (about all I am sure <sigh>)

The best peaks I noticed were at (approximately -2mins because that begins the fade up in signal) 40, 50 and 60 minutes but don't take that as gospel because I didn't take note of any until 40 minutes into the recording.

the audio is at:

have fun!

Huh? / Re: NASA spots monster hole on the Sun
« on: July 01, 2016, 2334 UTC »
Let's look at the facts;

1)  Science has shown that the stars in the sky are moving away from the earth. And at some time in the future there will be no stars to be seen.

2)  There is a 300 to 600 foot 'ball-o-crap' in orbit around the earth and it has been unseen by the afore mentioned scientist for about 100 years.  So much for those guys...  100 years and they never saw it???  Yeah right!

3) Now the Sun has a monster hole in it...!?!?

1a) Why are the stars moving away from us?  Mostly because we ruined the neighborhood I am sure.

2a)  Is that the same 'ball-o-crap' that killed off the dyno thingies a few million years ago... The scientist tell us to move along nothing to see here but Guess who the latest dynos are?

3a)  Hole in the Sun,  perhaps that yellow blob in the sky is having an energy crisis and is about to go Nova and I don't mean a guest shot on that old TV show.

Welcome to my world... heh heh heh heh

Thanks Josh...

I had an idea that there was something wrong with this signal...  but I was just going by ear... I haven't been that active really and I'm too lazy to setup the data software ;-)

A number of years ago I noticed I always slept with my head towards the North...  When ever I set up the beds in the big house always the head board was in the North...

No good reason for it, it just happened that way... I seemed to sleep better in that position AND it helped with the voices in my head... they came in much clearer. ;-)

But all joking aside... I did always sleep with my head to the north no matter where I was... just another one of my weird idiot-Nsync-rotcies I guess.

I use Clam-Linux...

I've used Linux since I bailed on Windoze 3.1...

Guess that shows my age ehhh???
