OC, brief audio at 0035, then strong signal at 0039 UTC
Solid S8 here during an uncharacteristic uptempo pop tune ending at 0051, into mood music, then Dr. Benway with Id, shoutouts..."THANKS!", into T-shirt plug.
"T-shirts only shipped to US addresses"...Uptempo tune at 0055 UTC. S9 here now with a little fading and a pesky on LSB.{Thanks for the shows this weekend Dr. Benway!}
0058 UTC Switched to USB and superb signal at that...I'm using USB with 6 KHZ filter and it sounds like AM!
0104 UTC Shoutouts...thanks! Into "Dr. Benway mood music" aka song by the Cardigans per other poster!.

Solid S7 signal here with string of numbers by the Poacher guy, IS, more numbers....crazy! {can anyone ID the little tune used as an IS?}
{After listening to my tape of last nights broadcast, I know better than to try and make sense of this! vegetarian, numbers played at high speed, and what is the name of that little tune they use for an IS?} ???
{After reviewing last nights posts and one from today, I guess the music is the "Lincolnshire Poacher"...have to look that up on google!}
2229 UTC off

Fascinating reading! I was not aware of this :o

DJ Dick Weed & Co chatting at 2153 tune-in with awesome AM audio on about 6929.6 or so. Talk about buying the rest of the t-shirts and broadcasting from a different place...passing around a Radio Shack microphone, then into Metal tune.
2207 UTC Dick Weed with names of songs played, "QRM"..."prepared to die for our metal", into "Don't Call Me Dude-Scatterbrain

Awesome QSL for last nights hilarious show received here! This show was the funniest, most entertaining thing I've heard since I got back into shortwave in August of 2013 after 24 years absence. Thanks Mr. Poacher guy! Greatly appreciated!
{Replaced jpeg with a better cropped picture}

Other / UNID 6945 KHZ LSB FEB 11, 2014 0049-0051 UTC
« on: February 11, 2014, 0106 UTC »
Strange things happening in pescadora land...heard what was definitely opera music...switched to LSB and damned if what sounded like Enrico Caruso with a solid S8 signal. I tuned in just before 0049 and it was off abrupt just after 0051. Peskies playing radio, or someone playing with the peskies? Either way, nobody's catching any fish...please QSL!

North American Shortwave Pirate / XLR8 6925 USB FEB 10, 2014 2239 UTC
« on: February 10, 2014, 2257 UTC »
Hearing something steady above the noise floor with lots of peskies on LSB and SSB here. Unid rock tune ending, into mans voice sounding like TV audio, then at 2239 a funky jazz guitar intro with electronic sounds. I think there was an XLR8 voiceover ID, more jazz improv with a baroque piano tune.
2252 UTC Pretty sure man announcer with "XLR8" ID, into unid rock tune.
2305 UTC Signal up to S4 now, overwhelming the pesky during a harder edged punk tune.
{Really eclectic mix of tunes I have never heard..hey XLR8 guy...more talk between tunes! Let us (me, anyway) know what the names of these tunes are!}
{I guess the other posters know these tunes...I was born in 1955 and still rock around the clock...missed this genre though!}
2335 UTC ID, then a Ramones sounding kinda punk tune
2343 UTC ID, then a metal edged garage band grungy punk tune
2349 Off abrupt after ID's
{Thanks for the alternative tunes XLR8! Don't hear much of this music on the local FM stations}

Equipment / POWER SUPPLY FOR DATONG MODEL FL-3
« on: February 09, 2014, 2208 UTC »
When I got back into shortwave listening in August of 2013 after nearly 24 years absence, I found that my Datong FL-3 auto notch filter had somehow separated itself somehow from the original power supply that came with it. I can't find it anywhere! I've checked out ebay and found what look like suitable replacements, but I'm not certain! Does anyone have any information on a good replacement for the power supply? I downloaded the original spec sheet for the FL-3 and it states the following:
Supply Current: 85 mA zero volume
                      400mA max. output
Supply Voltage: 10-15 volts DC. Protected against reverse polarity
I would be interested in any info at all as to where I might obtain the best power supply replacement!
Chris

QSLs Received / TIP & ELVIS SHOW eQSL
« on: February 08, 2014, 0136 UTC »
Received in 43 days a full data eQSL for an email report for reception of the "Tip & Elvis Christmas Show" on December 26, 2013 from 0655-0712 UTC on 6210 KHZ. The QSL is a picture of the transmitting tower and equipment. Broadcast stated as 500 watts! Thank you very much Tip & Elvis!!! I really appreciate this reply!
Update 2/10/14...When I downloaded the eQSL, it was a 5.4 Meg microsoft doc file. In order to convert to a JPEG, I had to do a print screen, then paste in PAINT, crop, save as jpeg. I accidently shifted the verie details on the template so they were covered by the antenna mast! It appears that the QSL is a composite of top, bottom, and verie details. So much for Windows XP...corrected QSL reposted below.
