HF Beacons / Ditter 8000.34 KHz
« on: January 09, 2024, 0018 UTC »
While keeping a watch for the HIKER and S beacons a ditter faded up above S's normal frequency, roughly one dit per second. No reference to this one I have found so far. 8000.34 KHz 09JAN24 00:04z Airspy HF+ Discovery 60ft SE/NW longwire.

HF Beacons / Fast ditter 8194.58 KHz
« on: January 05, 2024, 1837 UTC »
I have a fast ditter pretty much daily on 8194.58 +/- a few KHz. I, along with others, have previously identified this as the second harmonic of the MarinDit. However, MojaveBeaconeer has indicated this frequency is too high for the MarinDit to have drifted up to. 8194.58 KHz 05JAN24 18:16z Airspy HF+ Discovery 60ft SE/NW longwire.

HF Beacons / Dasher 8000.40 KHz
« on: December 18, 2023, 2312 UTC »
While monitoring "S" this dasher appeared just up in frequency. About one dash per second. It seems to be either quite strong or gone as far as propagation is concerned. Disappears for a minute or so then returns. 8000.40 KHz 18DEC23 22:58z Airspy HF+ Discovery 60ft SE/NW longwire

HF Beacons / Long dasher 8039.82 KHz
« on: October 27, 2023, 2209 UTC »
I have a long some what chirpy dasher that fades up strong. Not seeing a reference for this one but may well be missing it so if this is previously reported let me know thanks! Airspy HF+ Discovery 60 ft SE/NW longwire 8039.82 KHz 27OCT23 22:00z.

22 Meter Band HiFER Beacons / DYG Beacon 13564.82 KHz
« on: October 26, 2023, 1951 UTC »
I have activated beacon "DYG" on 13564.82 KHz, on the same antenna and solar/power I was testing the dasher on down on the lower frequency. I am hearing it very strong right now on the KFS SE KiwiSDR so it appears to be getting out well. Running on a Comet CHA-250B vertical at Part 15 power levels. Reports appreciated, thanks!

22 Meter Band HiFER Beacons / Test dasher 13559.36 KHz
« on: October 24, 2023, 2112 UTC »
I have a dasher beacon up testing on 13559.36 KHz, about 66 dashes per minute. It is part 15 output and on my Comet vertical for now. Mostly testing battery and solar to see if it matches the math. This is a simple 4011 chip as oscillator and buffer/amp with a CMOS 555 keying it, followed by a two section low pass filter to smooth it out. Looks good on the scope. It will probably drift frequency a bit with temperature changes. Once it is proven out, it or another one I have ("DYG"), will be placed off site on a dipole. This is of course hammering my receivers around 22 meters so any beacons I put up will not be left here  ;D

If anyone hears it let me know, thanks!

22 Meter Band HiFER Beacons / Chirpy dasher 13556.38 kHz
« on: October 10, 2023, 2342 UTC »
Chirpy dasher, about one per second but inconsistent in keying times. Seems to be struggling to start each key up, unstable oscillator or low voltage maybe. Stops for several seconds at a time and comes back a bit lower in frequency then moves back up gradually. 10OCT23 23:33z

22 Meter Band HiFER Beacons / Dasher 13560.36 KHz
« on: December 30, 2022, 2240 UTC »
Dasher, about one dash per second, 13560.36 KHz in the midst of the usual mid band ISM signal and CODAR. Running S4-5 on the Airspy HF+ Discovery and SE/NW longwire. 30 DEC 2022 22:20 Z

Also have PCO, RR, and K6FRC visible. KG7BZ and KD9QZO on WSPR.

HF Beacons / LGB CW Beacon 7999.0 KHz 21:25 UTC 01 JAN 2022
« on: January 01, 2022, 2137 UTC »
Went checking for "Q" and other 8 MHz area beacons and I have a very strong beacon repeating "LGB" on 7999.0 KHz. LGB is not on any coastal marker list I have and a search of HF Underground and the web in general doesn't yield any previous info at least that I could turn up. Any thoughts? Drift net beacon?  The short pause between IDs would be unusual for one of those. Or is this a new one...

HF Beacons / Rainy 6626.2 KHz
« on: February 06, 2021, 1841 UTC »
Search brings up the last post of hearing this beacon was in 2010 so apologies if starting a new thread is not appropriate but it seems to not have been reported since (assuming I didn't miss something) and it has been some time since I have heard it. It is chirping away here this morning though at 18:40 UTC 06 FEB 2021.

22 Meter Band HiFER Beacons / K6FRC 13565 KHZ 18:35 UTC 15 NOV 2020

Copying K6FRC. Good signal into Central Arizona with some fading, caught this one many times on 10 meters but this is the first I have caught it on 22 meters.

22 Meter Band HiFER Beacons / LBC 13559.93 KHz 03AUG2020
« on: August 03, 2020, 2327 UTC »
While examining an ever present signal I have been monitoring on the Airspy HF+ SDR (some sort of local device I imagine) in the 22 meter ISM band "LBC" faded up quite strong on 13559.93 KHz. Some amount of fading but very strong on the uptake.  Checking the lists here and other sites and not able to find it. I may well be missing it somewhere.

HF Beacons / CW Message from HI
« on: March 03, 2019, 2315 UTC »
22:56 UTC 03MAR2019 The following CW message was copied here from HI on 7998.06 KHz after hearing the HI identifier change to "VVV" Some mild fading but solid copy.

HELLO TO ALL CW OPERATORS ES HOPE U ENJOY HI BEACON L POWER IS 500 MW HOMBREW BEACON - - BE SAFE ES HAPPY SWLING 73 DE HI

The beacon then returned to its normal HI identifier.

Copied on the Airspy HF+ on the Comet CHA-250BX vertical.
