Solid copy here in upstate NY.

0137 Audio & SSTV ID: Outhouse Radio

Those are "SSTV" (Slow-Scan Television) images - commonly used by amateur radio operators. If you can pipe your radio's output to your computer audio input, you can use software to decode the signals. I use MMSSTV, a free app for Windows (desktop) - others are available. Here are the images I just decoded from this pirate (my first time attempting to embed images - hope this works):

0110 Booming into the northeast - S9+10 to S9+15 (slight fading)

Jazz music - believed to be a rebroadcast of BSJ-FM in England - definitely *not* direct reception from UK, as this is the loudest pirate signal I've ever encountered (at S9+40!) in upstate New York, U.S.

HF Mystery Signals / Resources to ID VHF/UHF sigital signals?
« on: February 20, 2021, 1452 UTC »
Sorry if this is a bit off-topic. I recognize & respect that this is a forum for ID'ing HF signals. Can anyone point me to a similar forum for assistance in identifying unknown digital signals above 30 MHz not represented at SigIDWiki? Thanks!

P.S. If anyone *does* want to take a crack at it here, I'm hearing an approximately 15 kHz wide intermittent signal on 72.1 MHz that lasts roughly 2-10 seconds and sounds like a pager, but definitely is not POCSAG - waterfall at https://www.lutins.org/temp/701.jpg and audio at https://www.lutins.org/temp/701.m3. Promise I won't pester y'all with above-30 MHz signals again!

Fairly strong signal in upstate NY with moderate fading.

0145: "All of the Trees of the Field Will Calp" (Sufjan Stevens)
0148: "Don't Worry Baby" (Los Lobos)

Dead air between every song

Thanks for the enlightenment! I too saw evidence of the flight diverting from JFK to Buffalo, but that doesn't make sense, because Buffalo is *way past* JFK if you're flying from Port-au-Prince!

I just got ADS-B software up and running on my RPS1A. I notice route discrepancies between the software it uses (Virtual Radar Server) and other information sources. For example, for Jetblue flight 634 (7 Feb 2021), I observe the following:
 - Virtual Radar Server (Ver. 2.4.4.36598) identifies origin as San Francisco & Destination as Boston
 - FlightRadar iPhone app identifies origin as Port-Au-Prince & Destination as New York (JFK)
 - FlightAware.com identifies origin (Port-Au-Prince, Haiti) & Destination (Syracuse, NY) [these appear to be correct based on the flight track]

So why the discrepancies, and who do I believe? Thanks and happy monitoring!

Thanks - sounds like a positive ID! When I use the search bar at the top of this website to search for "6855", nothing comes up (well, except for my post, now). Maybe I don't understand some subtle way it works (or doesn't).

Utility / Military? 6855 kHz USB (voice) starting 2323z 26 Jan 2021
« on: January 27, 2021, 0014 UTC »
I can find no record of 6855 kHz being an active mil freq, but heard what sounds like mil air traffic at 2323z and again at 2357z. Recordings of first message at https://www.lutins.org/temp/6855_1.mp3 and second message at https://www.lutins.org/temp/6855_2.mp3. Transcript (best as I can discern) of first message is as follows (M = male; F = female):

M: [Sevine ?] [Sevine ?] Speedair zero one, Speedair zero one
F: Speedair zero one [flight ?] forward go ahead
M: Charlie three five Charlie three five, Golf two three Golf two three, [chest ?] now zero two zero, zero two zero
F: Charlie three five Charlie three five, Golf two three Golf two three, zero two zero, zero two zero
[beep]
M: Roger Roger

Sorry for any confusion - I probably posted as I was listening, so the GMT timestamp may be correct; *possibly* I calculated it incorrectly from my local time zone (Eastern Standard), but as someone who's been an active utility monitor and ham operator since the late 1970's, I find it hard to believe I goofed this badly.

I notice the notation "Last Edit: January 25, 2021, 0817 UTC by Skipmuck" at the bottom of my post. Is there some way to know what the nature of that edit was?

Very weak signal - I can only make out that music is playing. Possibly Radio Difusora Roraima in Brazil, but I think a pirate is more likely given my location (upstate New York, U.S.A.). Tried a few other radios in the region using SDR Console's network feature, but can't find a stronger signal elsewhere.

Thanks Token for coming to my rescue last time - here's another one that doesn't bear any resemblance to anything on SigIDWiki: Every few minutes on 6961 kHz last night I observed two identical bursts in short succession of what appears to be a very brief 24 (?) tone signal. Audio at http://www.lutins.org/temp/6961.mp3 and waterfall at http://www.lutins.org/temp/6961.jpg. Thanks again in advance for your expertise!
