Might have been a Canadian NORAD contingent. Wouldn't surprise me to find more Canadian participation in these exercises, also E6s are possibly working with P8s to a degree, thickening the plot.

Yeah have to get someone enarby to monitor for radioactivity. Also, even with the loss of longest elements they still work fine on the higher bands.

Take some wire and touch it to ground of the ac and the rig and see what happens. Test it on a few bands. Then decide if there was an improvement or not.

Allegedly, IRGC will orbit Noor-2 in June.

Very nice. On the home brew jobs I think 1n4001s are going to be better than 1n4148s or other small signal diodes because they're horrific imd generators in certain instances such as nearby ambc stas, and they might not live after a pop or two from a tstorm. The 1n4001s are similar to a PIN diode in their junction, thus almost impervious to generating imd, and they're rated to handle much greater power levels than small sig diodes.

In some of my hf rigs that don't feature built in gdt protection, I place a gdt across the uhf socket(s) and a 20v mov across the dc input.

I suppose one could get away with a simple ne2 bulb across a decent inductance to ground, mounted inside a metal box and call it good. Pretty much what the polyphaser protector inline with the rig in front of me has.

Log periodics, mebbe 3 to 30mhz operation. Giant mofos! The one to the south of the facility seems to be having issues with the lowest frequency element.

If that's Panzer Kasserne, my uncle was there in the early 50s with the US Army Signal Corps(e). There's a few logs in and around Omaha Nebraska of that size located a few miles from downtown so as to "survive" nuclear blast I suppose, ATT owns one atop their building in downtown Omaha however, they did when I was there, might be gone now. OFFUT AFB has some rotatables at the Elkhorn Communications Detachment a few miles west of Omaha, as well as one in NP Dodge state park in north Omaha.

Might be interesting to note freqs, languages, and azimuths of these antennae when they become active (don't be surprised if certain "espione" transmissions are sent via these same behemoths).

:D

Rx only or can you push a gigawatt thru em?

HFGCS is the main player till it is simulated as having been nuked, then E4s and E6s take over - wich is what they are for, with a boomer (SSBN) having been reported in an exercise in 2017. I suppose one would have to keep track of calls heard and extrapolate from there. They (E4/6s and GEP) were also up on UHF MUX and likely the milstar sat system, milstar or a green laser sat being what I expect subs to use for such comms.
