North American Shortwave Pirate / Radio True North - 6925AM 16/12/12
« on: December 16, 2012, 1927 UTC »
Heard RTN on 6925 in AM by using a remote reciever located in Edmunton Canada.

Signal, via the remote, was nominally at S5 but sometimes jumped to S7 and was a fairly good signal with only one or two fades. ID'd a number of times and gave shout outs to some of the IRC and myself. Played Christmas songs that seemed to be all Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters.

C/D at 1828UTC

Good Show, RTN - Cheers...

Is it just me, Token, or does Firedrake seem to be more active these days?

Spy Numbers / Re: UNID Spy station

Post a link to a recording, if you have one. That helps ID them.

Although, as Ary will know (I send him recordings on occasions), I normally record, I was in a skype chat which records any sound - including the sound of the CW.

What language? Morse? Voice?

73, Ary

It was morse, Ary, and quite a strong one as well. I'm not sure but the 124 bit seems to ring a bell. Wasn't there a log of 124 either on a voice station of a Morse station last month?

General Radio Discussion / Re: North Korea Satellite Launch
« on: December 14, 2012, 1710 UTC »
In the case of the North Koreans, they had to get some kind of bird up there - it being the 100th birthday of Kim-Il-Sung - the nation's former leader and current president - even if he has actually been dead for twenty years!

Do we know any more details about the orbital path and if anyone has captured signals from it yet? I think i may have got something last night around 2007UTC on 468MHz - not far from the reported 470MHz

Thanks for the telemetry freq, Chris... I shall try to catch some - if at all possible.

Do we know of what it will be sending back in terms of telemetry?

Anybody copied it?

I picked up a signal that was most likely the Firedrake jammer, but i am uncertain. It was on 12060 - roughly.

can anyone confirm?

E07a was fairly powerful last night, Chris. Not all that surprised you heard it at all. Though E07/E07 family was acting very oddly last night

They should decode it and see what it says

Spy Numbers / E07... and a lack, thereof
« on: November 21, 2012, 1857 UTC »
Got the 1820  UTC 6982 slot for E07 with nice and clean audio - something exceptional for E07 this time of year for me. However, when it came round to the 1840 slot on 5938, there was no message - I presume from the QRM coming from an AM station on 5940. I did a little hunting around either side but found no E07 at 1840... For me, this was rather interesting as, apart from the no message heard at 1840, there was a lower then normal tone in the autoreader for E07 - almost as if the computer was depressed! ;D

For the record, the message was 199/00
