Yes, I think this is FT8.  Just not the way it is intended or as you are used to seeing it.

Basically, you are seeing FT8, but you are seeing spurs, audio harmonics, an overdriven signal, poorly suppressed sideband, or something along those lines.  I see it quite often.

This is HAARP, out of Alaska.  They started on this freq at 0130 UTC, but this specific waveform started at 0230 UTC.

I hear X-FM on 6865 kHz USB, wide audio, 20 over S9, and 6935 kHz USB with narrower, but still quite good, audio.  Second station under 6935 that I can tell is there, but not hear what it is.

I am hearing X-FM on 6935 kHz USB, 10 over S9, but I hear nothing on 6285 kHz USB.

I also hear a second station under X-FM on 6935 kHz USB.

Got home, turned on the radio, and tuned in just in time for the end and SSTV at 0058z.  Nice signal, 10 over S9 or a bit better.

This might be an HFT transmission, they have one that looks something like that.  Or it might be a radar, the PLUTO radar was in that frequency range about that time on that date.  The waterfall image is not detailed or clear enough to be sure of which, but I suspect HFT.  An audio recording would clear that up.

25 Oct 2024, 1915 UTC, noticed UM05 using a new frequency, 7542.8 kHz.  Otherwise same habits.  At this time was using single words, changing words every ~5 minutes or so.

I have not noticed it on the old set of frequencies since then, but to be honest I have only looked a couple of times.

(edit) a quick check of the UDXF group indicates this frequency change was made on Oct 23, 2024.

14230 kHz USB is the main analog SSTV for 20 meters.  It can sound like a fast tik tok depending on the image being sent.
