just how badly we want to hear a very weak signal amongst the noise ??  this radio transmits as well.

Hi, I hear the idea is to use an RF choke to ground to stop the build up of static electricy damaging the fron end of a rx.  A few ideas about Kite antennas are found in the GQRP Sprat newsletter, theres a CD Rom of about 140
Sprat newsletters, also info in the DVD rom of 30 years of QRP Quaterly.

Hi, don't forget the earthing, modern houses have kind of bonding, not sure what ? maybe some kind of counterpoise which is just a length of conducting wire related in wavelength to the bans in use. Maybe this is overkill I don't know.

Tuned loops are a smaller in size and can be directive, plenty info on You Tube...see if I'm allowed to put a link here.

MFJ do a ready made antenna, but its exspensive..look at the videos on You Tube, a trip to a local ham radio club could give a better ideas on antennas..heres a couple of links from you tube.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YswnVmAKSP0
