Weeks ago, the op of Pushka told you (I think) that he had given up SW but that the SW station you heard in this frequency range "might have been his friend". The days when your friend was your (postal) maildrop passed a long time ago; in the age of email it's basically unnecessary.

The usual thin, narrow, poorly modulated audio, sounding like he's using a Dixie cup and a piece of string. One positive thing I can say for him is that his transmitter's frequency stability is very, very good.

0358 - ID. Feeling it important to spell out Talmud. "T-A-L-M-U-D." 
0404 - Josiah is looking forward to the coming "One-God Theocracy".
0408 - "This is an emergency transmission of peace and hope."
0409 - "This is Josiah (something)." (He was giving his last name.)
0409 - The moment you have been waiting for... "Days of Hard Life". Transmission supposed to complete after DoHL.
0412 - "Epilogue. ....", interrupting DoHL with more preaching.
0413 - "The homosexual, blood thirsty Catholic Church."
0416 - More ranting about modern Judaism, and one of his presumably negative adjectives that he adds in front is "homosexual". I forget the whole phrase but he was implying that all Jewish leadership (if there is such a thing) is homosexual.
0418 - Address given as: P.O. Box 1722, Inyokern, CA 93527. "CDs are free. Thanks for tuning in and I love you. Good night."  (Presumably not the homosexuals though?)
0419 (or thereabouts) - TX off.

Yeah. I noticed it on K3FEF SDR and went to check K1VL in Vermont and heard nothing. I assumed that it was just some weird internal spur but if you are hearing it too, maybe it's true.

I'm genuinely surprised to see the enforcement. Things got so bad that the WARFA Net webpage has a link to the FCC complaint inquiry form: https://www.warfa.org/

* William Crowell, ex-W6WBJ ("World's Best Jammer"), finally had his license denied renewal in 2020, after a long saga.

Sidenote: Some wiseass thought it would be funny to get Crowell's old callsign as a vanity callsign. (I actually heard that guy using that callsign last year.) However, he was probably getting a lot of hell for it, since Crowell's infamous antics were despised throughout the west. It looks like it was terminated 12 days later (https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/licenseAdminSum.jsp?licKey=4676357) and that person reverted to his previous vanity callsign.

S9+10 on an SDR in "the yoop" (Upper Pennisula of Michigan). Plenty of QRN tonight.

Some hum on the audio between songs but not in every case. Some RF feedback at times. Sounds like the op is trying to work out some audio issues. Good luck.

"New Wave" was a marketing term the recording industry came up with to describe pop-punk and post-punk music.

Of course it's a marketing term but so is every other term describing a specific genre of music, and we have to have those in order to have a common framework for discussion. Otherwise there would be no way of simply communicating the differences between Beethoven and Sham 69 without having to recite a long list of characteristics.

By your logic, "HF", "VHF" and "UHF" are just "marketing terms" with no real distinction between them. Feel free to use your 2m antenna on 80 meters.

Punk didn't get played on the radio except in markets where there was a listener base large and diverse enough to support or on college radio. A friend of mine got fired for playing a Ramones tune on the midnight to six shift in 1979 on a regional FM station, four years after the boys recorded their first album. You could play Blondie, you could play the Go-Go's, you could play Nick Lowe, but you couldn't play the Ramones, the Clash, or The Jam. Why? Those last three acts were "Punk" while the first three were pop enough to be labeled "New Wave". Nick Lowe and his band Rockpile were rooted in Pub Rock and Rockabilly. Acts like Blondie, firmly Punk early on, as were the Go-Go's. They slid into "New Wave", you can sell bands fronted by pretty women, all you've got to is get them to mainstream their sound, and that's what happened.

This is your long-winded way of saying "oh, it's just a label". Whatever, dude. Punk had an ethos of nihilism and DIY and anything post-punk generally does not, including New Wave. New Wave was a reaction to the nihilism of punk. They are quite distinct. To say that they were the same thing and just labels created by the music industry is just completely and utterly erroneous.

You weren't at the shows, you weren't part of the scene, you weren't on the staff of one of the most influential (legal) university stations at the time. Your source of knowledge is your friend who got scolded for playing a Ramones tune. Not a solid basis of knowledge.

You really don't belong discussing this if you can't distinguish between them. They are quite different and you know that but you're just trying to get a reaction, so I will stop. It's not worth my time discussing it further and it really doesn't belong in the loggings section anyway.

Not contradicting what was written above but I want to point out that from my casual observations that STANAG signal does not seem to be much of an issue west of the Mississippi River and possibly not a huge problem even immediately west of the Ohio River.

Speaking of contradictions, I'm going to contradict even myself here. I can hear that damn STANAG all the way out here now, even on my not-so-great antennas, and I think it's coming from Europe.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

The latest thing that I'm trying to point-out to GEN Y & Z'ers, those Radio Shack 1980's mixers are still great for Magnetic Turntable Preamps, with the MAG Phono IN, built-in. (I have several, here.) Also, great gear for Podcast start-ups, then graduate / upgrade with newer gear. And, being that most of the analog gear is through-hole tech, most of this gear is still repairable. Passing thoughts...

 I can guarantee that the old pots have become erratic and noisy by now. Make sure that you clean them very well.
