Pretty sure it was Liquid Radio I had, given the rock and dance/trance music being played.  Tuned in at 2153Z, fair signal with some nasty deep fades.  Still going at 2208 when I left the DX location and headed home.  No sign of Radio Paisano.  Thanks for the show!

I had this too, fair at best but in the noise otherwise.  Talking about Russian OTHR (did he say from Kordofan?) causing interference in ham band.

I had this too, while on the same DXpedition as Markokpik over there!  Weak fair but clear with oldtime bluesy music, 1215Z.  I've never logged the Ghost before!

Shortwave Broadcast / Re: an indication maybe...

Fingers oh so crossed!  These summer conditions have really been iffy.

Nice catch!  I've never managed Educacao Rural up here.  Wow.  I was getting some pretty decent tropical band DX the other night myself.  I only wish my local noise level hadn't been so darn high, I'd have had Bolivia's San Miguel and Brazil's Radio Congonhas for sure.  As it was, I got Difusora Londrina for the first time.

General Radio Discussion / Re: Amazingly Poor Propagation
« on: August 30, 2015, 0310 UTC »
Would you believe that during the worst of the rubbishy propagation on local Thursday night, I had Brazilian domestics on 60M?  I caught Radio Difusora Londrina on 4815 (weak but present), Radio Congonhas on 4775 (very weak but there, and only the second time I've ever heard it), and Radio Daqui on 4915 (fair to good, wow!)

I also had something too weak to properly ID, but that I suspect was Radio San Miguel from Bolivia on 4700.  Also a few other carriers - Roraima on 4875, Cancao Nova on 4825 (darn the static or I may well have had audio there, grrr), and a loudest carrier of all from Guyana down on 80M, and darnitall I wish I'd gotten audio there!

Everything else pretty much shot to heck.  CHU's 3330 outlet was super fluttery, WWV on 5mHz was hardly audible above the noise, and 10mHz or CHU on 7850 - forget it.  Even CRI's usual super signal on 9580 was comparatively awful.

You may stand a chance of getting Brandon, Manitoba on 880 if WCBS is QRT (or just down in the relative noise).  Radio Progreso is in there too, but a more difficult catch.  Not sure what else would be audible at that location.  Keep us posted!

As a tip for a fellow QSLer: Snail mail works for RRI.  I need to write to them again, while I think of it...

Oooooh, I thought the constant flipping annoying het/carrier on 14275 was just me getting local interference from something!  I didn't know it was audible elsewhere.  Huh.

I had this too, though I missed the testing idents in the middle.  This was an episode of The Whistler, but it was the stand-in Whistler actor who took the post while Bill Foreman was presumably away in the service during the war.  The stand-in does not hold a *candle*.  Ah-hem!  :P

Good signal on the isthmus, anyway.

aha, so this is who I had.  I suspected but wasn't sure.  s7 give or take on the isthmus tonight.  tuned in to 'Top Hat White Tie', then more swing/blues type music on a hat theme.  Heh.  Where'd I put that beanie? :)

Tried for 12025kHz tonight, hoping for PNG.  Got Iran in Spanish with surprising strength, but no sign of the Pacific.  Alas.

I'm assuming it was Liquid Radio I had here at 0240Z.  Some quite enjoyable dance music, fair to good but worsening the further down the hill I went (taking the PL-660 for a walk again.)  Somebody else's carrier interfering briefly, starting around 0242 or so.  No idea what that was about.

5450?  That's probably the RAF volmet you've got.

Longwave Loggings / Re: Recent NDB Logs

Yukon Territory?  Oh wow.  I really need to get my DX-398 fixed...  The PL-660 is a marvelous little radio, but its MW and LW reception just don't compare with the 398, and I rather miss chasing NDB's.
