I Heard them testing 1/11/14  Very good signal 20 khz BW  - Mostly Id's with the FM translator ID - 93.3 the Heat
April 2014 - Have noticed them during the day - most but not all days the past few weeks - may still be operating / testing via the construction permit?

FCC docket shows there may still be unresolved problems w/ required environmental and or archeological studies at transmitter site?

I usually can hear Radio Enciclopedia on top of Rebelde but tonight Enciclopedia is mostly in the background
or in other words the weaker of two stations I'm hearing tonight on 530 AM.
As usual they are changing places from time to time..
I can check Enciclopedia here at http://www.radioenciclopedia.cu/audio-real/  but alas there is nothing on 5025 khz
to see if the other is Rebelde. I have this link but do not detect a match as yet  http://www.radiorebelde.cu/
, wait a minute - I do have a match with the web feed - with Radio Rebelde.... cool!

I noticed 530 AM Cuba coming in fairly clear tonight so I checked LW and
sure enough I have a pretty decent signal and audio on 189 khz right now  (5:15 utc)

5:15 - 5:27 utc Music programming with female announcer between songs.
Sounds like Iceland programming to me but I don't have an actual ID yet.
Some mild storm static but the noise blanker helps.

Equipment / Re: Any Suggestions for equipment / software for RTTY / CW reception.

I've had very good luck with FlDigi with both my SDR and my Grundig. It requires a computer of course to run the software.
FlDigi works well with both Windows and Linux. It is in the software repositories for Mint and Ubuntu and probably other distros as well.

Other than a computer and receiving radio all that is needed to operate is an audio connection from your radio to the computer.
After you install the software make sure you point the software to your sound card. It may do so automatically or ask you during the install.

You should probably use some type of impedance matching scheme from between the radio's output and the computers microphone input,
 maybe and audio output transformer from an old transistor radio for example.

I have always just patched them together directly. Just be very careful with the audio levels or you could / will burn out the input circuitry on the subject computer.

I also use Easy Pal for DRM type signals and SSTV (Windows) and Qsstv (Linux) for slow scan signals.
I once did a proof of concept test with two laptops and handhelds just holding the units up to the laptop computer speakers and microphone. (acoustic connection) Worked well using FlDigi and Qsstv in quiet conditions over 10's of miles.
Works even better with connectors robbed from the appropriate headsets!!!
