No Problems, your beyond reproach- work is excellent. I had listed M94 on 6330 KHz some time ago elsewhere, and was wondering why this wasn't verifying- is now. Same Group I had listed tail end of CW transmission on a frequency that had once been used by Korea only it was North Korea! I might want to take that listing back!

I have noticed your YouTube Videos- Keywords: V24, M94, V13, V26, Chinese Robot... I Highly recommend; very well done. Also I have noticed the Video- Keywords: Secret numbers stations from film Der Westen Leuchet. Same Video is on Simon Masons Site, but seems to take forever to download. Particular Video is Somewhat creepy; however, is a good example of One-Time Encryption. Cheers.

Spy Numbers / M94 S. Korean Morse Numbers Transmission on 6330 KHz
« on: October 10, 2010, 1820 UTC »
Here San Luis Obispo, California I have: M94  1400 - 1406 UTC  OCT. 10 2010 very weak signal through noise, could only copy bits and pieces. My best guess is that this is the first transmission of two. Hopefully will be a repeat transmission tomorrow at 1400 UTC. Main Page of this site has excellent article M94 with typical format. Article lists 4500, 5115, 5715 KHz as the frequencies; maybe, 6330 KHz should be included? at least for now, could all change after first of the new year. Main page Articles concerning Number Stations and what not, gets better and better. Cheers.

OOPS! Mystery Solved. These are image signals from the 40m Amateur Bands. Past Saturday propagation was fairly good and was observing a number of CW signals in this Broadcast Segmant. Assuming a Receiver IF Frequency of 455 KHz; double that value giving you 910 KHz. Your Receiver (if it's cheap like mine) might pick up image signals 910 KHZ above or below a strong signal on a Fundamental Frequency. For example I noticed CW pile-ups on 6140 KHz (Broadcast Segment of the Band); Thus: 6140 + 910 = 7050 KHz. When I tuned to 7050 KHz (CW portion of the 40m Amateur Band) I heard these same CW pile-ups in thier proper location and much stronger. In my case there were no Image signals 910 KHz above; say, 7050 KHz at 7960 KHz. Cheap Radio with Poor IF Filtration. Cheers

Spy Numbers / Re: 5800Khz - AM CW

Here in San Luis Obispo, California; I have observed M8a on 5900 KHz starting about 05:00 utc with a repeat transmission on 5800 KHz starting about 06:00 UTC. It's been awhile since I have monitored these transmissions. There is also a Spanish Language Catholic Broadcaster in the general nieghborhood that never clashes with M8a- almost looks like some frequency coordination. Mere coincidence; howerver, they are polite. More observations of this the better.

Although not a fresh tip; you might want to try: 5810 KHz starting about 06:00 UTC for more M8a CW. I believe credit goes to LanceLovejoy from St Louis for observing and listing this transmission. The first, and so far only time I have observed SK01 was on 5810 KHz. The parallel transmission for this 5810 KHz transmission, at present escapes me. Should be somewhere near, either an hour earlier or later. Often, you will hear more open carrior than anything else; at least, you know what frequency they do use. Again the ENIGMA Newsletter has a lot of good information about these Cuban Transmissions.

The Transmitter site for the Catholic Broadcaster I mentioned is I believe located in New Mexico. It is intended for Spanish Language Listeners in the U.S.A. As soon as they go off the air; often times M8a comes up on or near the same frequency. I just find it curious that's all- Liberation Theology at play here? That's all I'm going to say, I don't coordinate these Frequencies.

Thank You very much for resource list; very helpfull.

You have probably heard it, but did not know quite what to make of it- it does sound unusual. There are several sound files. try:
Numbers and oddities go to Download, then to Sound Samples, you will see New DGI mode: RDFT about third of the way down- this is SK01.
We don't have any Cuban Embassies, there is a Cuban Interests Section on the East Coast. How they distribute thier Key material and what not escapes me ?
In contrast, if I understand this correctly the Russian Consulate in Seattle is located in the Westin Building- a major telecommunications hub ? This gets to deep for me, I may just stick to building itsy bitsy little Radios and Morse Code. Cheers.

That frequency is also used for SK01, evidently quite a bit. I noticed a fellow in Florida listed SK01 as follows:
Jun 4 18:19 - 20:02 UTC on 8097kc
I have only heard it once, but am now starting to focus on it. It has a very distinctive sound to it, once you have heard it you will
remember it. It is used to transfer files (computer) over the Radio instead of the Internet. It is a RDFT ( Redundant Digital File Transfer)
Mode- very forgiving over the Radio. Curious mix of Morse Code and Digital, or so it seems to me.
Cheers.

Spy Numbers / Re: V2 Cuban Voice Numbers Station
« on: July 02, 2010, 2250 UTC »
"Enigma 2000" Newsletter #58 lists: Vo2a April 2010 0200z Fri UTC 5417 kHz  this sounds like the one. I have excessively wide
passband and incremental tuning.

I need to remind myself that is a wealth of times and frequencies especialy for V2 and SK01 in this Newsletter- saves a lot of time and effort.

In terms of Radio past couple of weeks have learned a lot; however, quite a ways to go before I can ID Utility Signals, especialy
Burst Modes the way I would like to be able to.

Here San Luis Obispo, California I have:

V2  5425 kHz (approximate)  in progress 02:25 - 02:40 UTC July 2, 2010  (Local time: 7:25 -7:40 PST Thursday Evening)
Good Signal through moderare noise, static, and co-channel with KLB CW Marker (Near Seattle)
Spanish Female counting 5NG  ends 02:40 "Final" 3X  First time I've observed this on this frequency and time.

Been looking into this a little (in so far as possible); much less inclined to entertain the notion of Russian/Cuban cooperation in this sort of operation. FBI Claim 2 makes mention of this curious shortwave "Burst Mode". I suppose it could be some sort of Spread Sprectrum
Signal, as I am unaware of any Audio Samples of it on the Internet.

FBI Claim 1 outlined the use of Laptops and Wireless Hot Spots.

I just hope it does not take that long for photos of some of this physical evidence to get released to the Public. Would be very insightful
regarding how these operations are conducted. I think the Public should know at least to some reasonable extent. I know I'm
interested in this.

Cheers,

Somebody posted this article in another group... if you have not heard of this, thought you might be interested.

CBS News Blog June 28 2010  Article: "FBI: 10 Russian Spies Arrested"

I have yet to read the full article; but mentions that these people were trained in the use of Shortwave Radio and Morse Code Encryption
techniques. I have wondered why there seems to be so much M8a activity around the Country; could this help explain it ? Food for
thought- or so it seems to me. Cheers.

Thank you for the tip. Have observed a few times and e-mailed them a reception report- won't hold my breath for response.

Your work RE: VTN is superb!

Can anybody Identify this? +/- 35 wpm Morse Code too fast for me to copy under poor conditions.
Is this some Amateur Frequency in another ITU Region? or Coastal Maritime "Marker"?
Could only copy bits and pieces CQ ? BT K could not make out a call sign.
Co-channel with at least two other distorted Spanish Language Broadcasters. Through strong atmospheric and "buzzing" continuum
noise and turbulence. I've noticed this before on Saturdays (local) and wondered why CW was on this frequency?
Possibly Tone Modulated- it's not the Cubans, they can't send that fast- neither can I.

Geo-Mag Storm due to Coronal Hole  WWV @ 0218 UTC reported SFI: 75  A: 14  K: 3
When the event is caused by Coronal Hole, seems to be some lack of correlation between Indices and the severity of the storm; or
so it seems to me.

At any rate I'll go google ITU Regions. Cheers

Spy Numbers / Re: High Frequency Global Communications System

Thank you all for the information and recording. I am finding this quite interesting.
Youtube is very helpful. Might want to see: "How to Launch a Nuclear Missile"(5:12 long) note the Tour Guide, when he mentions the preamble: "Birds of the Air, or something like that".

Also, old documentary: "First Strike" with authentic personnel is insightful; especialy (part1).

Evidently, I am reading too much into this "echo" effect; however in the Monitoring Times article: " What is an EAM?" there is a reference made that I don't understand, but is nonetheless interesting. Near the bottom in the 04 APRIL 2005 update section it says in reference to the echo rotation callup: " they were no longer 'aliased' (as in IDing) and at least two new stations were added to the echo rotation callup." The term "aliased" as it is used here, I for some reason can't quite grasp. Oh well, it's not important; but it is that reference that made me think there possibly might be something more to this echo effect.

Do to the fact that this is part of an extraordinay System, and in the interests of obtaining some sense of this. I mentioned in reply #14 a illustration that contains numerous miliatary platforms (politicaly correct way of saying it, I still can't bring myself to say the "N" word;
NU[. . .]LEAR) at any rate, as deficient as this drawing is I have looked into some of these systems that are depicted and found it interesting. As a treat, I recommend the youtube video: "JointSTARS.wmv (2:54 long). This features the nondescript looking airplane in the depiction- gets my juices flowing- enjoy. Cheers.

I tend to be a skeptic and critical thinker; Have to find out for myself. While waiting for my lower back to unsieze, have been spending time looking into this. This Alpha/Numeric combination does show up enough to reasonably satisfy me that this is used for command and control. Have been looking at some of these systems. I have taken the AMTRAC Train through Vandenburgh AFB and wondered about some of those structures, now I know. Appears to be a new openess; amazing what you can find on the Internet; furthermore, if It's there for public consumption I'm going there. The exception appears to be the NSA, very disappointing <YAWN>.

I hope those involved in decision and policy making know what the Hell they are doing? I for one am not so sure.

Cheers.

Best information I have found so far: Google- EAM (Emergency Action Message) Monitoring Times Article
Evidently, the Echo effect is intentional; for reasons that escape me?
I'm new at this c'mon you guys with decades of Monitoring and Analysis experience, you can do better than that. I'm all Ears.
Behind that lack of context, lies an extraordinary System. Cheers.
