Well, they WERE on just a minute ago!  S = 7 w/o fading, but with some static crashes, once again nice and wide audio for USB, woman's voice repeating "fuc*ing fade away...fuc*ing fade away...fuc*king fade away..." (I bowdlerized it to save the children's virgin ears or eyes)  followed by a male voice repeating "...it's pee vagina radio...etc." several times and not in falsetto and not set to the "Close Encounters" theme music, followed by...nothing more!   I guess I missed the show!   Oh well, too bad, condx seem pretty good here in the flatlands of the West Coast!  Please  QSL, PPVR!  They (he?) do seem to have stepped it up a bit lately, what with improved audio, program material (of sorts), not pestering other stations during their shows, etc.   Tnx for the program, PPVR!

Regards,

EDIT:  At 0555 GMT, they're back!  Same signal report, more canned id's, some spoken stuff with piano accompaniment, followed by something echoey & reggae - ey!  Cool....

RTN with S = 5 or 6 and hi-fi audio despite storm static etc. with 1980's music, canned "CoolAM " ID's etc.  As usual here this summer, signal strength gradually getting better as the night progresses, no fades per se...just that darned storm noise!   Listening now on the SP-600 but will shortly switch to the R-390A and the 8 kc. high fidelity filter and run the line output into the old stereo amp etc. As usual, thanks for the program, in another half hour or so you oughta be closing in on S = 9 if previous summer nights are any indication, here in the flatlands of the west coast of the USA.

Osborne White, WMMR etc.

PS:  Mrs. O. W. sez to send her greetings and to mention that she is enjoying the program immensely!  She sorta grew up in the 1980's, whereas I never grew up!

EDITTED:  Sounds like they threw the big switch in the middle of a song at 0730 GMT!  Oh well, no R-390A tonight after all!  TNX RTN for the program!

Well, I guess Suicidal Tendencies MIGHT be considered "music" by someone somewhere...I remember when it came out, I thought it was a comedic recording and that I just didn't "get it!"  I mean, some guy in his twenties whining a monologue (likely practicing what he wished that he had balls enough to say out loud to his Mom if only he wasn't such a little pus*y) about "all I wanted was a Pepsi" and about what  his "best interest" is etc. is not exactly "music" in  my book...but then neither is "rap" or "hip hop"  etc.  (THAT foolishness sounds like a crackhead babbling while a record skips in the background!)   In any event, I listened for the better part of a half hour or forty-five minutes before I started looking for my log notebook, which is MIA, hence my post.  During the time that I listened, he played numerous rather highly produced spoof commercials and screwy "music" parodies and some sorta toilet-mouthed black comedian, most of which I had never heard, while doing his usual number in between cuts, etc.  He also ran some sorta routine about horoscopes, the gist of which was that regardless of your zodiac sign, you were doomed or dead or some such; kinda reminded me of something that might have been released in the 1980's on a National Lampoon LP, but what do I know?  In any event, this was not the first time that I have heard an actual "program" from PPV Radio, but previously his signal was poo- poo and his audio sounded like a microphone next to a speaker whereas tonight his audio was great (for SSB at least) as was his signal here; he must have saved up his allowance for weeks and bought some equipment!

Pee Pee Vagina Radio just signing off, 0634 GMT after having played Suicidal Tendencies, spoof commercials for "Helen Keller Sings the Blues" record, Montana as a vacation or retirement paradise for guys like Ted Bundy, etc. and various other  parody songs & spoof commercials, along with the usual "ID" of the station name sung to the "Close Encounters" five-note theme.  Unlike previously, VERY good copy here, S-9 + 10 db, no fading, etc.  Some storm static, however, but actually a very nice & wide & hi-fi signal.   PPV Radio seems to be evolving into actually playing program material vs. his old tactic of "pestering" other stations with endless repetitions of the Close Encounters-Pee Pee Vagina schtick.   No QSL info given.  Thanx for the program!  PSE QSL!  From the flatlands of the West Coast, etc....

That station would have been Mysterious Mystic Radio, started up at  ca. local sunset e.g. 0314 or so and we threw the Big Switch at 0445 (or so).   Only ran 30 or 40 watts (if that), condx here sounded completely dismal & dead so we figured "what the heck!"  Surprised that Chris S.'s S-Meter even budged!

Been hearing them about S = 5 with S = 4.8 noise for the last half hour, OM announcer, mainstream / metal-type music, occasional live announcements, etc.  If they stay on long enough, the band should clear up (static crashes etc.) and it should all be made clear to me here, but until then....

EDIT:  Now I see that it is Radio True North relaying Radio Ronin!

THANKS for doing the lord's work, RTN!  Signal might be improving, we shall see!

EDIT EDIT at 0355 GMT:  Coming in a lot better now, S = 9 and the noise floor is staying put at S = 5 or so, static crashes have diminished, seems like the band is lengthening a bit, QSB somewhat, but the hifi AM signal is making the trip, gonna switch from the TS-850 to the ultra-hi-fi R-390A & stereo amp etc.  Tnx again RTN and Ronin!  Wowie Zowie!

EDIT EDIT EDIT at 0425 GMT:  As predicted, condx improved vastly since local sunset, no more static crashes to contend with here, just a little QSB, using the 4 kilocycles filter on the old R-390A, THANKS for the shout-outs, & Mrs. White sez to tell you "hiya!"  I appreciate the later evening hours, here in the west coast flatlands there are not that many broadcasts to copy (vs. back east) BTW "Snoopy vs. the Red Baron" (I am pretty sure that's the title) was one of the first 45's that I bought with my allowance, I think in 1966 or 1967, I hadn't even started smoking  yet then (I started smoking when I was nine, so....) Very very cool program, Sir!

EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT:  From the Department of Redundancy Department, YOU, Sir, are the COOLEST !  This  per Mrs. White, and I heartily concur!  She still knows the entire lyrics to "Angel in the Centerfold," in fact, she sang 'em for me along with the record, and, unlike when she gave her performance in grammar school, she now knows what the song is actually referring to!   And she wondered back then why her teacher was horrified....Still  S = 9 plus on the TS-850 w/QSB, just checked, but I prefer the ultra-hi-fi R-390A etc.   Can't quite see the carrier level meter without my hearing aid, so....

North American Shortwave Pirate / Re: 6925 am good music
« on: May 10, 2013, 0400 UTC »
Yeah, Radio True North here just above the S = 8 noise, 6925 AM as follows:

0330 - "Hot Buttered Popcorn"
0334 - Unintelligible announcement thanks to mucho static etc. on top of more static crashes!
0335 - "Long Cool Woman" by the Hollies
0338 - unk. song
0342 - Radio True North live anncd. ID, email addy, etc.
0343 - another unknown song, unk. to me anyhow
0346 - Quick annc. "tnx for report"
0347 - "My Generation" the Who single (I think)

And so forth....Coming in better as the band is quieting, just in time for some (ugh) 1980's  stuff, now S = 8 and the noise has subsided to a manageable S = 5!  C'mon, forget about this 1980's thing, jeez.....

Seriously, great audio, now, without so much  noise, and...thanks for the show, sir!  Heard here on the TS-850 at first, now via the R-390A, switching between the 4 & 8 kcs filters, and running the line audio through an old stereo amp & Advent speakers (the smaller plastic cabinet ones, big for bookshelf speakers but still sound very good) and you sound like AM DX from Nevada here in the flatlands of California.  Not too shabby!

WMMR / Mysterious Mystic Radio

EDIT:  THANKS for the shout-out & the Janis!  Wow, I sure wish I still had my old double-LP bootleg by her, it was on day-glo yellow vinyl and musta been a soundboard recording, rare to have found such high fidelity boots back then (the 1970's)!   My friend Kerry Morr**** "borrowed" it, and you can guess the rest!  I just have a prejudice against the 1980's mainstream stiff, I guess...Mrs. White, however, loves stuff from back then (she is fifteen years younger than me, heh heh heh) and sez that I need to "shut the <blank> up" because she is trying to groove to your program....thanks again, just now you hit S = 9 + here!

EDIT EDIT:  Thanks from Mrs. White & me too for "Love Hurts"!   She reminds me of the eyebrows she raised when, as a first-grader at a Lutheran school in Anchorage, she opted to sing her then-favorite song karaoke-style for her class, that song being "Angel In The Centerfold" !  Oh boy!  When we were dating and she first told me about this, I realized immediately that I had a "Tiger By The Tail!"  The rest, as they say....BTW, still hovering around S = 9, occasional QSB, no more static crashes!

EDIT EDIT EDIT:   WOW!  You are too too cool, RTN!   Thank you thank you thank you!

Just ID'd, Red Mercury Labs w/a hurried live ID, email addy, "73's" and off the air.  S = 9 plus ten w/lotsa static etc. at S = 8 in the flatlands of the West Coast; this along w/two unid by me songs before it at 0253 GMT and beginning here at 0245 GMT (not 0445 as indicated in subject line)!

RTN on 6950 AM 5 May 2013 w/Radio Ronin Relay earlier, now live RTN program w/shouts out etc.

Finally coming in halfway decent here onthe Left Coast (sorta):

0535 "Hot Rod Lincoln" Commader Cody
0540 "Start Me Up"  or some such modern tune by the Rolling Stones
0544 "I Want You To Want Me" by Rockford's Finest (aka Cheap Trick)
0546 "I Wanna Get Physical" by Madonna I think
0550  Canned Cool AM ID and then "Come On Irene" or some such 1980's bubblegum

Been listening for the last ninety minutes but sigs up & down, pretty solid S = 5 or 6 and noise S = 4 on
TS-850 earlier and on R-390A now (jeez, these Trimm Dependable cans from Libertyville are sure pinching the audio and my head)

Thanks for the show, still sounds good  despite some deep fades here in the California flatlands.

0245 GMT - Hearing the station barely above the noise, S = 5 with the noise at S = 4, seemingly low modulation e.g. "thin sounding audio", etc. OM announcer  not too intelligible.  Mentions Ragnar.

0250 GMT (or so) - "Who Stole The Kischka!?!"  A GREAT polka favorite of mine, and a family staple growing up!

***Disappears into the mud***

I don't care though, I am gettin' out the milk crates fulla the family polka LP's and opening a beer, firing up the twin Crown audio amps, & screw the neighbors!

Tnx for the program, Chamberpot Radio!

West coast, sorta, TS-850, sloper at 30 or 40 feet etc.

I have 'em here on W. Coast at 10 db over S = 9, moderate QSB, noise floor ca. S = 7, same "off frequency" frequency that Radio True North was using an hour & a half or so ago, actually darned good audio despite rolling QSB, now finishing the show after "The End" with  salute to our armed forces.

0450 - Radio True North id confirming relay of Radio Ronin, operator just had something to eat, now into something that sounds like a parody of some sort of (c)rap music ("rap music" being an oxymoron in my book, sorta like "honest politician" etc.) but...TNX for the Radio Ronin Shortwave relay!

0453 - More of that (c)rap stuff, which I really honestly thought was gonna be a flash in the pan when I first heard it back in 1985!  I guess I underestimated badly how much worse it (popular music trends) could get, naively thinking that after "disco," things could only improve!

*** Sorry for the opinionated BS, but....***

0457 - Cool AM RTN ID, and then into something that begins with "ready steady go" repeated several times with spacy guitar ramblings as accompaniment, at least it isn't rap!   Still S = 9 + 10 db on the TS-850

***THANK YOU to RTN for the Ronin Relay and your show too! ***

General Radio Discussion / Re: Time to set things straight
« on: April 19, 2013, 1930 UTC »
Dear Ronin:

I am very sorry for your recent troubles.  Thank you for setting some things straight; I did not see any evidence at all of any denunciations in the NUOU etc. and, while I have no doubts that there have been such cowardly stoolpigeon acts such as fellow pirates dropping dimes in the past, as well I pretty well had concluded  that it did NOT occur in your case.  So, that leaves me wondering why all of a sudden you were the lucky winner of the "bag of sh*t" rather than some other (much) more frequent, prolific, controveersial, high-powered, etc. stations!  I would rather not hear of ANY stations getting shut down, but....Your operations were not especially high profile, your location is not THAT close to any Field Office, etc. and there does not appear to have been any other "high priority" enforcement nearby e.g. FM Pirate closures, or CB truck stop stuff, or hams playing obscene tapes, etc. to "justify" the FCC Agent overtime that it cost to come to see you.  There is still a LOT about this that is not clear to me here....

If you do not mind, then, I shall ask you outright:  Why do you think they picked RRS to come and see?   Coincidence?  Neighbors' complaint?  Some sort of inflammatory programming?  Somehow, they picked RRS out of all the other operations in the USA, but I guess that I cannot quite fathom why this is!   Whaddaya think?

In any event, I completely agree with you, you gotta live big or else you have not lived at all, or (to quote myself) "Ya gotta live big & die small, live rich & die poor!"  Thank you for the programs and etc. and remember (here I will again quote myself) that "Every time 'they' build a better mousetrap, we end up with smarter mice!"   Best wishes from

General Radio Discussion / Re: Recent FCC Activity on 6925 kcs.
« on: April 18, 2013, 1843 UTC »
I do not know the op and as well have no idea which station he allegedly is associated with, but...I for one would REALLY be interested in a firsthand account or more accurately, a firsthand "hunch" about any denunciations, etc. that might have been made.  I noted that, unlike the spate of FM enforcement stuff in Washington State, there did NOT seem to be other nearby (to the recipient of the NOUO, that is) enforcement  actions, or rather, none published on their web site, so it does seem as though this was not an "accidental" discovery by the Feds while on some other caper.  Nonetheless, I am going to refrain from hypothesizing about any rats or stoolpigeons, long-eared or otherwise.  If / When the op wishes to, I would very much be interested in his "take" on this, privately or otherwise.  Until then, I guess I'll simply keep my rearview mirror clean, my eyes peeled, and my head down!  Yeah, sure.....

OK, this gosh darned (inherited from SK old pal) IPad POS keeps erasing my posting before I can manage to actually post it!

Found the following a few minutes ago:

http://transition.fcc.gov/eb/FieldNotices/2003/DOC-320165A1.html

I hope that this "link" works, if not....I can not "copy" and paste with this thing & I thus had to try and type it out from my pencilled notes, and it's late & I am sleepy, very sleepy.....

We're getting very nice & rich audio here despite some static crashes (& despite the momentary equipment glitches and resultant drop-outs) without any appreciable fading!  Solid S = 9 + with the S = 6-7 noise floor! Mostly 1980's music that I am unfamiliar with (no surprise here, I never listened to mainstream music anyhow) and live announcer, yahoo.com email addy, some shoutouts, etc.  Thanks for the program, sorry that the S.S. Red Mercury is buzz-ted, but ya sound great down here near Stockton Calif.!
