« on: May 21, 2018, 1246 UTC »
Got the dasher every 3 secs on 7998 khz...1330 utc...
It has been a good while since I heard it...maybe because
I have been listening for Mini and the Y 8193 beacon...
Looks like Hikers freq has shifted down...

HF Beacons / 40 meter Novice Band Beacon???
« on: April 01, 2018, 0057 UTC »
While looking for that possible beacon mentioned in another
thread by CW man on 7129 khz I found what appears to be a beacon on 7124 khz...
A dash about every three seconds.

I have only  heard it twice so far so maybe it is not a beacon in the true sense of the word.

HF Beacons / 4096.4 ditter help me out
« on: February 03, 2018, 1456 UTC »
It has been years since I heard the 4096 cluster.  There seems to be a carrier on that freq. traveling on the power lines that
are in the village.  However, last night around 4096.4 I heard a dit being sent every 6-7 secs which was hard to get an actual
count on because of deep qsb.

Has anyone else heard this?

RF was Q5 at 2330 utc  with no FRC then FRC came up strong Q5...
At  0015 utc FRC was super strong...

OFF and on from 2330- 0000 utc both beacons were heard off and on.

I thought I heard PVC but could not copy an ID just could detect a very weak cw transmission.

HiFer "OH" is back on the air as of 3 Jan18 at 1400 UTC. Frequency should be about 13,555.20 KHz.

Another Hifer beacon is back on the air and during the low part of the Sun spot cycle. Wow

Thanks goes to Chris for allowing the 22 Meter page to come into being.  HFU  has a lot of viewers strung out all over the world.

For the past few days I have been listening to a signal up on 8000.350 khz...I admit it is very weak but I have
been able to time it right at 60 dashes per minute...

I have named it "Mini" based on the fact is is very weak...

I have it at 2215 utc currently.

22 Meter Band HiFER Beacons / It takes listeners like you
« on: November 29, 2017, 2344 UTC »
Years ago I got started in this part 15 beacon stuff running a Medfer Beacon on 1675 khz with an ID of "D".  Back in those days there was only the LOWDOWN a little monthly publication  that the Medfer guys reported what beacons they heard.  I would get phone calls from other beacon operators
when "D" was being heard.  It seems so often that the Hifer beacon operators today don't do much listening and or reporting what they hear if they hear anything.

It really takes Listeners who report what they hear to make it worth having a beacon operating. So let me thank everyone of you guys that have spent some time listening to the 22 meter band.  More importantly that you actually reporting what you hear on this web site.  Chris was kind to let me start a page here on HFU that supports the HIFER movement. I thank him also.  John Davis spends his own money on the LWCA.ORG web site that supports Long Wave, Medfer and Hifer beacon operation and I thank him also.

Listeners keep the reports coming into HFU.  73 Bill in Pine Colorado    PCO 13563.55 Khz

P.S. The Lowdown newsletter still exist and one can find information up on lwca.org
