1221 - Mx, below the QRN. Keeps fading up and it's def there. Clear on the waterfall. Slow fades. S-6, QSB 222 to 333 (briefly).
           Euro-pirate?!
1227 - Sounds like slower, ballad-y song at the moment.
           Remembered to check that my FM/MW broadcast filter is on (for a change). All good. ;D
1232 - Nearly zero copy now; 222. Waiting for another fade in.
1238 - Going to hang in there and see what happens. No copy at the moment here (East coast, Maryland)
1244 - Signal just jumped a little, getting a techno type beat now.
1250-  Still hanging in there. Got my good-luck pirate mug going.
1251 - Keep getting hints of mx up from the QRN.
1254 - I'm with you "Pushka". As long as I see something on the waterfall.  (Or I lose power again ;D :()
1256 - Getting vocals w/ mx now.
1302 - 222
1344 - Blasted from some sort of wide, digital signal bursts. Looks like the signal is still there, but no copy for a while now.
1409 - Only the fuzziest hint of a signal on the waterfall if I'm super zoomed in now.

What's the best way to share audio recordings on the HFU? I know it should be a link to a file uploaded somewhere, but what are some sites that you're using. I thought Dropbox worked but it always seems to be a pain in the ass.

General Radio Discussion / Power Outage Dilemma

Just got the power back after about two hours. I think some tree trimming crews earlier in the day had something to do with it. Just my guess.
But while it was down I thought, Great! I'll grab the PL-990 and enjoy some reduced QRM listening. And then, I thought no. No, I don't want to know how good it could be. So, I just sat with my wife, in the dark, and we enjoyed the quiet. Remember quiet?

Why does 100.7 The Bay show up on 100.1 as well? Is that intentional? Or just a spur? I don't know enough technically to know what's what.

Equipment / Any discone antenna fans?

Received a Tram 1411 discone to poke around the VHF/UHF neighborhood with, and to use with my Uniden SDS-200. To listen to something OTHER than local PD/FD (Balitmore County, Project 25 Phase I).

This thing's pretty nice, but started putting it together and then realized it's not going out the door fully assembled. ;D It's raining anyway.

Ah! And it's super nice that it fits perfectly in the end of a chain link fence top rail (1-3/8" dia.)
