QSLs Received / Re: KIPM via Undercover Radio eQSL 8 Apr 2023

Look at that QSL! Proof positive that both of those guys are on dope! I expected it from Benway, he got his pirate name from that notorious wife shooting pervert and junkie, Bill Burroughs, but Alan Maxwell? He was as pure as the driven snow when I knew him. And to think I nearly became his Box op? It's hard to imagine what he would've got me into.

Fighting with a Nigerian preacher over a trivial FM station? These Nigerian mega-churches make their stateside compatriots look like small fry. Add in the fact that he likely belongs to a secret society, where you have to pony up big bucks to join, but get the full financial support of the wealthy and well connected members, he's got money to burn.

DX'ers who display your email addy's, be prepared to get emails from "Prince Ogban" needing money to protect his cousin Vasco who is being persecuted by the US government. Please bring a cashiers check to London, and write your Congressman about this great injustice.

With the first name of "Vasco" his family is likely from the area of the old Portuguese trading city of Calabar, capitol of the Cross River State. With the oil money there , he's likely well off to begin with. The FCC needs to pick it's fights better.

0306 Band music?    S5
0310 Op talking about Les Brown music ?

Les Brown And His Band of Renown? Right up there with Freddie Fleet And His Band With a Beat. Roscoe P. Coltrane, future sheriff of Hazard, played with Freddie Fleet after Andy and Barn got him on the straight and narrow.

Freddie's band was the biggest thing in the greater Mt. Pilot/Mayberry region.

Is this the one that comes from the tx on the bridge over Mobile Bay?

335
That will have the AM boys in a tizzy. 7285 is the sacred frequency.

Methodists are a tricky bunch. They managed to convert a good number of Irish on their own in a short amount of time just after forming under John Wesley, while the British couldn't coerce them into joining the Church of England despite controlling the island for centuries. If the FCC is smart, they'll leave the Methodists alone.

Salem is the capital of Oregon. Portland is a radical city, it has been for over a century, just the type of place pirates would be hard to take action on. They're likely in Salem shopping for a friendly judge or three to help them out.

That would have been about the time 40 meter band opens up E-W. I used to hunt East and S.E. Asian dx in that range and would get interrupted by Ham's hollering "CQ".

You might want to ask Stretchyman. Those AM units would be some of his direct competition in the UK.

That's the center of 40 meter AM window. It's more likely a ham fooling around. Those scamps do that from time to time.

My sister used to live in Paducah, KY. and I'd make that trans-Kentucky drive regularly ferrying my Mom back and forth to see her grandkids. In the winter you could catch WHAS in the daytime from one side of the state to the other. In the summer it was WLW until you got to Lexington, then WHAS, and if conditions were crappy, KMOX for the last 100 miles in. At night, year round, you just picked the one with programming you liked best and went.

Mom discovered she liked sports radio on those trips. She got to hear Joe B. ask his moose question on that run. She made the crack, "I had smarter kids in Special Ed."

The guy who used to handle their relays was a big help to me when I was starting out. I heard them on a French SDR about a week ago but didn't log it, that's cheating.

Another evening of KIPM courtesy of R. Undercover - "Messages from the Telephone Box at the End of the World"
Signal same as yesterday, S9+20 slight QSB, 7 kHz wide audio

Broadcast ends after about 2 hours 15 minutes of KIPM relay

Two episodes -
"Messages from the Telephone Box at the End of the World"
"Terra Incognita" Partially narrated by voices other than Maxwell

Solid S9+20 for entire broadcast. Excellent audio, only drawback is when there were quiet passages, the atmospheric background noise would come through with no carrier to quiet the frequency.

If Alan Maxwell and David Lynch got together to make a "KIPM" movie that would be truly epic!

The Alan Maxwell Player's are back!

How did I know he'd resurrect for Easter?  ::)

That's a weird station, it has been for decades. My sister and my half brother live in the Kentuckiana region as WHAS calls it.

I was listening to a sports show on WHAS once that featured former Louisville and Kentucky basketball coaches Denny Crum and Joe B. Hall coming from a resort in the mountains above Death Valley at coaches conference. Joe B. asked Denny since there were longhorn sheep in the region if he thought they might see a moose? You could almost hear Crum's eyes roll when Joe asked that one. Joe B. was a heckuva a recruiter, but he didn't have much going on between the ears. Moose in the desert mountains, that was good ol' Joe.

I'm not your type and thanks for the tune.
