Squid-lover.

It looks like this one has six arms, Al. What's your plan now?

Nah, manatee. The neighbor's wife came home from vacation Friday, saw the howling monstrosity in their pool and shot it. There was a neighborhood manatee roast this afternoon that is still going on.

There's a helluva lot of meat on a manatee and the oil from the blubber can drive the diesel generators of the neighbors for months. All in all, a good time was had by all.

Radio piracy was made a low level felony in Florida a number of years back with a push from a state politician who nearly crashed at West Palm Beach due to splatter from an FM pirate operating along the path of his approach. Florida is one of the few states where the FCC's civil authority is backed up by state law. It's only logical they would try something like this in a place where such a situation exists.

Got to be careful if a squid or octopie offer to shake hands, one of them feelers doubles as his wanger. If it's a he.

I'm afraid he knew that when he posted "tentacle porn", Josh. He's tricky like that. When he thinks you believe all he cares about are knobs and bellowing sea-cows, he tries to set you up. He learned it at that fancy truck driving school he went to in the semester where they taught them how to check tire pressure and cheat lot lizards.

Al is skeert of it. He's afraid it might get his last hair.

"Disinfo wars"! Heh. I'd forgotten about Alex Jones. He used to be entertaining about 10 years ago. But he's jumped the shark, curb stomped the shark, chopped up the shark, mixed that shark with street grade PCP, distilled that shark/PCP and drinks it for breakfast. Bill Cooper accurately pegged Jones as a hysterical disinformation fabulist and carnival sideshow operator almost 20 years ago

When Jones and his lawyer had to admit in court in testimony over the "Hillary Supporters Sacrifice Babies In A Pizzeria Basement" case, a rumor that Alex started and an idiot armed to the teeth believed, that Alex makes his content up out of thin air, it made my year.

Looking-Glass, the most impressive thing about Ralph Stair is his beard. Charlton Heston would have killed to have had it in his role as Moses in "The Bible" instead of that cheap wool and cotton thing they glued to his face.

Still pining for Cthulhu after Nibiru took a wrong turn at the Kuiper Belt?

Peter J. Peters. Was there any group/ethnicity/religion he didn't go out of his way to insult in his time? Every time I hear Mr. Garrison do the "Merry F***in' Christmas" song from "South Park" I think of him. I always imagined him looking that way, too.

Was it Art Bell or Al Weiner that was on the phone with Cooper when he put it down and went out the door to his doom? It's been so long ago I can't remember?

Melissa Scott ought to go back to her first career. A lot of those early 90's porn starlets are cashing in on the MILF craze. It would be nice to see her making an honest living again.

Al, penguins love squid. Perhaps you should think about calling a truce with your beaked better's?

I wake up this morning, the world is still here, Al's women are gone, and there's a note on my front door saying, "Take that! Al."

At least I have my Mormon drawers as a memory. I hope he treats those girls better than that howling sea-cow he left in the neighbors pool. All I could say when I saw it was, "Oh, the huge manatee!"

Equipment / Re: Long Wire or Dipole for HF/SW RX?
« on: September 24, 2017, 0319 UTC »
There's always the old reliable Windom. You can find the formula for building one on any antenna site and it's been a proven performer for a century. Wire element w/ an offset wire feedline cut to resonance for your preferred frequency. Hook the feedline a simple tuner to match it for wide band listening/ transmitting. It's dirt cheap and it works.

Same here. When the sun went down the bands seemed to go long.

I had the barest of carriers at roughly 22:30.

BTW Skip, The Milkmen are back out on tour per the kid. She and her boyfriend have tickets. This fella may be the man, he's got the Milkmen's cow logo tattooed on his upper arm. As the kid has been listening to the Milkmen since she was a fetus, it's not going to hurt his chances. He's certainly got Dad's approval. She's been listening to Mojo Nixon just as long, but thank God that didn't stick. If she brought Rafe Cannonball Nixon home, I'd have to shoot him as a precaution in case he was like his Daddy.

I had it above the noise but couldn't pull out much audio. Peskies popping in and out to boot.

I caught the carrier about 20:10. They were solid here above a fairly high noise level.  About an S-9 and little peskie qrm mixing in at first then into some stuff that sounded a lot like Hendrix's studio recordings released after his death. Started fading about 20:21 and disappeared into the noise. Nice audio and a wide bandwidth.
