2207Z Very weak here. Just above the noise level and can hear talking, but unable to understand it.

2202Z On SSB, can hear the faint carrier, but absolutely no audio at all. Wouldn't have noticed this unless mentioned here.

Vactrol's also work well in this application and might be a simpler solution (no moving parts).

YES! I forgot about that and my friend (and others) were talking about that too.

This is one station that is absolutely impossible for me to get. I have a local 50kW station (KSTP) with a night pattern to the west (and I'm west of 'em). I've tried to null, but just can't effectively do it.

Chanter, can you get WFED? From what I've heard, when KSTP switches to the night pattern, very little in WI can get their signal (which has upset listeners over in WI for many years, especially when they weren't all sports, all the time).

I have both an ALA1530S+ and ALA100LN.

The ALA1530S+ is back out in the shed and use it for LW-SW. It works very well on LW. Recently picked up the ALA100LN and have a ~43' wire loop connected to that. The loop is stapled to the outside of my porch and is in the N-S plane. Comparing to a small active whip I have, it cuts out a lot of noise (which is hardly surprising, but does prove its success). I frequently listen to 540 WXYG on it and its an absolutely solid signal, from a 850W station ~75 miles away.

I would highly recommend either of these. With the ALA100LN, you can customize the size of your loop.

Tuning to 317 kHz now, its a rock solid S6 with its data stream. Being ~15 miles away, it better be. I think its mostly ESE from me, so coming in on the broadside of the loop, so signal is prob not as strong as it can be. And with the antenna stapled to the porch, hard to turn it.

A friend of mine recently suggested to set up a pair of crossed deltas that are phased. The direction can be remotely steered by changing the remote termination (variable resistors) at the far end.

For remotely & automatically changing the variable resistors, perhaps controlled by a stepper motor.

I have none of those things as they are prohibited from my house. LED lamp, I have one and it seems acceptable. But those things are expensive (and they still pump out the heat).

I stocked up on incandescents a while back and should be good for quite a while. Not any worse than my tube radios.  Was listening to a National NC-183D tonight.

Maybe he'll bring back Voice of Moscow on shortwave. Which will hopefully encourage VOA to also going again, along with Deutsche Welle, R Netherlands, BBC, RCI, R Luxembourg, and WRNO Worldwide.

This is a great reason to have high powered station as this problem would resolve itself.

NORMAL OPERATION AT REDUCED POWER AND ANTENNA HEIGHT DUE TO THE FACT, DISCOVERED 8/24/2016, THAT SOMEONE HAS REMOVED OUR TOWER, AS WELL AS OTHER ANOMALIES AT THE SITE. STATION IS CURRENTLY TRANSMITTING FROM AN ADJACENT 8 METER TALL TREE WITH ERP OF 0.05 KW.
THIS SITUATION COULD CONTINUE FOR YET SEVERAL WEEKS OR MONTHS UNTIL EITHER WE DETERMINE EXACTLY WHO REMOVED THE TOWER, WHY, AND CAN SEEK ITS RETURN, OR TO INSTALL ANOTHER TOWER.

And I don't see any LORAN signals going into my LORAN receiver.

I will patiently await a little bit more.
