In the lower 48, when you can't hear a thing from SA, you can count on RNA to be blasting on 11780 in the middle of the night.

Theyre supposed to be on during our local overnight hours and i havent heard them there in months.. and there was a shor time, a few weeks.. where 11780 was gone but 6180 was there...

I wonder if they intentionally or for some technical or business reason only can run one transmitter?

From earlier today before bed, this Brazil based signal with 00KW beamed at .. i think 353 deg azimuth, with 100kw. 0830UTC in Alaska.. just slamming in like a ton of led shit bricks with an S9+45/SINPO 66666 signal!

Shortwave Broadcast / Alaska SW Audio Logs & REcordings
« on: July 04, 2022, 1909 UTC »
I'm plowing through a back log of audio recordings from my near daily SW DXing exploits here in McGrath, Alaska and will begin posting audio. It might only be one or two links at a time, could be several posts a day, I could go several days without posting audio.. it all depends on my work schedule and if I have anything worthwhile to share. I won't be posting everything I log, just what I find interesting for one reason or another. Hope y'all don't mind!

Here's my first  to share:

Deustche Welle's Dari and Pashto service on 15230kHz that broadcasts 1400 to 1500UTC via the UAE to Afghanistan. This was recorded Wed. May 25 at 1428UTC and you catch the transition between the language service. The hum and low modulation is them.

Using an ATS25 radio,  2 tunable HF loops and a DXE preamp.

Very drifty carrier around 9673.25 kHz. Strong S7 with the Brasilia, Brazil KiwiSDR. Usual religious programming in Portuguese. I find it a little strange they would get their transmitter back onto their assigned frequency of 9665 kHz again then make a very large frequency change.

They were close to 9668 for the longest time, then they inched close to 9669...they were they smack on 9665....

they didnt make the change willingly, i dont think

Shortwave Broadcast / Re: No Reception - WRMI 20 June 2022
« on: June 21, 2022, 0016 UTC »

1403 - Still no reception - This hour generally begins a lengthy (Paid?) broadcast of Supreme Master TV

Yes, it's paid.. just about everything on WRMI is paid for to some level of $$ for the program

I've pretty much thrown in the towel on AIR  - Their signal has been so bad for so long its not worth the effort.

I wouldnt say its bad per se, they just arent even remotely targetting your area

I can hear their 15050 mandarin service quite well most days because of my direction from their target... but it often sounds awful

Shortwave Broadcast / 15180kHz Arabic Mystery
« on: June 20, 2022, 1943 UTC »
This is from Sun May 21 at 1714UTC here in Alaska... I couldn't find it listed anywhere in any online database.... I thought I may have heard a station or program name in there when live listening but didn't note where and can't find it now.   It sounds more news magazine-y like then religious.

Any ideas who? Here's the audio:

Radio Voz Missionaria on frequency? Hearing an S7 signal in Portuguese on 9665.09 kHz with the Chilliwack, BC, Canada KiwiSDR. Sounds like religious programming typical of Radio Voz Missionaria. Usually they are very off frequency, around 9666V kHz. Still off frequency but quite an improvement.

They were close to 9668 for the longest time up until about 2 weeks ago when i caught them close to 9665

Thanks to Manuel Méndez's early alert in WOR iog! Here are a few highlights from June 3 harmonic receptions
(7890 & 11835, both about equal strength [3945 unusable]) of Radio Vanuatu. Very nice to have them
back on the air again!!

0652-0700 UT: Series of adv/PSA/promo; in English or Bislama; askes listeners if they are interested in local
activities(?), then there are classes available for media training for jobs in radio and TV (first time heard);
commercial for "IDA Pacific" pharmaceutical company, distributor of "IDA Foundation" products (often heard);
local time "six o'clock," and into the news/sports in Bislama till 0715. By 0900, the signal was unusable on all
frequencies.

good to hear theyre back, Ron...theyre good here for quite awhile.. not heard 3945.. but 11835.. i never think to check for 7890
