Hi Kris.

3939,0 kHz is normally used for off route mobile aeronautical radio. I have skandinavian Station listed but this could probably be Norwegian Navy Bodø.

Do you have a recording of both contacts? That could help to identify.

Kind regards.

Hi Kris.

I have Naval Communications Center in Gdynia listed on this frequency. Possibly a so called Maritime Rear Link channel (MRL).

Hope this helps.

P.S.: Do you have a recording? That would be much appreciatedhere...

Seems to be NSS (Ny Norfolk, VA - TX Davidsonville, MD) with STANAG4481 and so called "KG-84" encryption string.

Correct frequency for RTTY (not USB!) reception is 11222,0 kHz.

Hi Zapod.

Thanks a lot - the .exe works fine here so far. Cannot save trigger settings but that's okay for me.

Stay safe!

Hi ZapoZ.

Thanks for the new version of Rivet.

I have a problem running it on my laptop. I use Win10 Version 1909 (Build 18363.1256) 64 Bit

I updated the JRE to Version 8 Update 271 (Build 1.8.0_271-b09).

When I start "RivetZ" (91.1) I get the following messages:

From Java Virtual Machin Launcher: "Error: A JNI error has occured, please check your installation and try again". After klicking [OK] I get another message from the Java Virtual Machine Launcher: "A Java Exception has occured". Rivet doesn't start.

Do I have to change settings and if which?

Thanks in advance.

Utility / Re: Marine CW beacons/markers log.
« on: December 05, 2020, 1013 UTC »
Hi guys.

The following is a list compiled of known active CW maritime beacons/markers both military and civilian, reception of all are in the A1A mode (CW).  The last date when heard is shown in brackets and other notes.  Please post any new ones heard with UTC date/time, frequency, call sign and report.

...

HLF, HLJ, HLO, HLW etc Korea Telecom transmitters are all 3Kw to Log Periodic antennas from an area outside Seoul.
SVO Olympia Radio uses 10Kw transmitters to ND TCI 540-2-04 antenna system near Athens.
TAH Istanbul Radio, Turkey runs a 10Kw transmitter, antenna system not known, transmitter near Istanbul.
XSG & XSQ China, transmitter and antenna array not known.

...

(updated: Saturday 05th December 2020.)

I may have some hints on the tx-sites for:

  • HLF, HLJ, HLO, HLW -> 37.176718, 126.663407 (PM37HE)
  • SVO -> 37.604181, 21.488436 (KM07RO)
  • TAH -> 41.118194, 28.940389 (KN41LC)
  • XSG -> 31.310408, 121.830308 (unsure)
  • XSQ -> 23.157083, 113.514044 (unsure)

China is not that precise in giving tx positions so tha data for XSG and XSQ is vague.

Any hint on their real TX-QTH is very much appreciated here.

Hope this helps.

Kind reagrds and stay safe.

I beg your pardon,

but ths message looks "garbled":

female voice "00912 oblique 00"

Never heard "00912" by that service. Please note that all IDs have three digits with group count following the "oblique". In this case we have a so called NULL-message.

We'd appreciate a few more details like date and time and also frequency - not online in the headline.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards and stay safe.

Hi.

By any respect to the usage of SDR it would also a great opportunity to add a soundfile, as it also helps to identify a sgnal.

Kind regards.

Utility / Re: The Pip interference ?
« on: October 01, 2020, 0858 UTC »
Hi there.

The Numbers have nothing to do with THE PIP.

The Numbers are coming from S06c, a substitute of the GRU-run numbers of G06/E06/S06.

Hope this helps.

I have the Canadian Coast Guard in Iqaluit (VFF) listed for this frequency.

« on: September 07, 2020, 0838 UTC »
Hi Kris.

Not really a typo as E06 and S06 are operated by the same "institution": Russian Military Secret Service GRU.

See -> http://wiki.utdx.de/index.php/G06 (G06 belongs to the same network, webpage is in German and needs to be translated)

-> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GRU_(G.U.)

Hope this helps to have a deeper insight.

Kind regards.
