Right when I was saying...

1540,5 Turbomix was noticed again on split. No idea why they are back there from nominal.

Very bad conditions again. Waiting till last coronal hole burst passes earth. After that there should (should and should) start a long peaceful period, according to solar wind prognose.

Every morning something...

NA
1120    28.1.    0622-  USA: KMOX St.Louis MO.
1640    28.1.    0630-  USA: WTNI Biloxi, MS. ESPN speculates Super Bowl. Another new state heard, 10 days ago NH.

CA
1560    27.1.    0502-  PNR: R Adventista de Panamá, Panamá. Surprise: English programming. Hmm, now I could tease AWR HQ with my report...

SA

670    28.1.    0510-  VEN: YVLL R Rumbos, Caracas. Pushing through Rebelde.
680    28.1.    0535-  CLM: HJZO Radio Nacional de Colombia, Barranquilla. One can realise at once that there is only one possible station in the whole continent transmitting programme like "Vida y obra de Mozart". Then Toronto took over.
930    28.1.    0500-  CLM: HJCS La Voz de Bogotá, Bogotá. Todelar.
970    28.1.    0515-  CLM: HJCI La Red RCN, Bogotá.
1270    26.1.    0526-  ARG: LS11 R Provincia de Buenos Aires, La Plata. Came in during NotiUno conditions.
Martin Canullan played Velvet Underground.
(NotiUno conditions = weak conditions, typically 2 stations available: 1280 NotiUno and 1290 Puerto Cabello "every frigging night")
1370    26.1.    0655-  CLM: HJBO Emisora Minuto de Dios, Barranquilla.
1420    27.1.    0658-  CLM: HJBH R Magdalena, Santa Marta.
1510    27.1.    0620-  B: Radio Central, Jaru, RO. New station. ID'ed by 4 Finnish listeners that morning. I was already wondering what is this, as the music mix didn't fit in with any known station on frequency. Who plays Adriana Garcia AND Akon? This one does.

This time listening at home via remote rx, South Finland, 45 km north from Lahti.

1350 25.1. 0607- CLM: Ondas de la Montana, Medellin. Playing Mexico music with another unid, or vice versa. It is confusing sometimes...
1390 25.1. 0604  B: UNID. A Brasilian surprised here with a prefix-id. Let's see what recording says.
1440 25.1. 0525- CLM: Colmundo, Medellin. Health show, tangos, stand-up comedy. Beats any format radio.
1520 25.1. 0553- CLM: Libertad, Bogotá. Indeed just "Libertad" in id. Strong!
1580 25.1. -0658 CLM: R Verdad, Bogotá. Final id of this morning around 30 seconds before the path to Americas was cut.

Quote
1540    16.1.    0610-    PRU: OCU2X Turbomix, Cajamarca.

Jari - is this one still running off-frequency?  Last I knew, they were at something like 1540.5 kHz

No more. Now Turbomix is on 1540.0 (exact decimals not measured), making it more difficult to catch. Usually there is KXEL and Bahamas (that I didn't bother to log). But the insane programming of Turbomix is easy recognise as soon as one hears it.  ;D

Sample from the times when Turbomix was still on 1540.5, during excellent opening to Andes: http://www.teknokekko.fi/dx/sa/1540_turbomix_030414_0257.mp3

Wait, there's more after 2nd round of recording check.

Central America

1020    16.1.    0609-   CUB: R Reloj, Jorobo.
1180    16.1.    0500-   CUB: CMBA R Rebelde, Villa Maria.

South America

980    16.1.    0600-   CLM: HJES RCN Cali.
1190    16.1.    0600-   EQA: HCDE2 UCSG Radio, Guayaquil. "Estan esuchando música de disco" and the king of disco appeared to be Phil Collins... Now Dieter Bohlen is dying in laughter.
1240    16.1.    0614-   PRU: OAU6D Radio Lider, Arequipa.
1250    16.1.    0600-   UNID: LV de la Liberación. Damn thundering background music made promo block inunderstandable. No idea which station was transmitting this. Too many choices. But when they interviewed an indian woman for talk's sake, the copy was perfect...
1330    16.1.    0600-   CLM: HJLS Caracol, Popayán. "Caracol, numero uno con noticias en Colombia". There seemed to have been a gallup on the topic and naturally the results must be advertised.
1360    16.1.    0605-   PRU: OAX7R R Sicuani. Also another talker while Sicuani preached to campesinos.
1400.2  16.1.  0625-   CLM: HJKM Emisora Mariana, Bogotá. CBC-qrm.
1470    16.1.    0557-   EQA: HCLD2 Ecos de Naranjito, Naranjito. Difficult. Capital from Lima did parlar with this, and later...
1470.07  16.1.  0658-   CLM: HJNT R Huellas, Cali. ...third station appeared. Naranjito was gone, maybe closed down.

Well, sun was not peaceful all the time, what do you expect.

Nevertheless in morning of Nov 18 there were fascinating conditions to North America. I am still listening to recordings, and so far I have ided stations from 760 WJR Detroit to 1600 WRUL Boston.

Conventional wisdom says that India on MW and NA on MW don't fit together. The direction is to either one, but not both. In Nov 18 situation changed rapidly as Kyoto DST did rise in morning. Around 0020 utc I was listening to country from Ireland on 846 when suddenly All India Radio int-sign appeared. I changed antenna and got 12 Indians, also on brand new frequencies to me, thanks to closedown of French and German transmitters. Three and a half hours later I was already listening to North Americans.

Many other surprises during the weekend: at one point in Saturday night Kyoto DST dropped suddenly and the direction of conditions fell down to Buenos Aires. 790 Mitre, 950 Belgrano, 1350 RBA, and 1370 Provincial were heard, but those recordings are largely unchecked too. (I spend time with my recordings whole next week. Month. (Year.)

Overall it seems Kyoto DST shows irritatingly well the nature of conditions in real time. Often one could wish it wouldn't be so exact... :)

SW was dead during nights.
