Stafford Springs, CT used channel 22 a few years ago. Home channels are where you hang out and wait for your buddy to call you. I used "channel 44" back in the late 70s and 80s and there were a whole bunch of us who used to go 4 wheeling. It was good to have a channel to call for help on if/when we got stuck. 😊

10/11 meters / Any businesses still use CB?
« on: June 23, 2017, 2125 UTC »
I know there are some local construction and freight yard related companies using CB since all the trucks that enter their property have a CB installed. Anyone ever hear any other types of business still using it?

That is a bus company and they have repeaters on the tallest hill in the area in Worcester County in Mass. Lots of activity in the mornings and early afternoons during school start and end times.

Found a couple photos that I sent to my buddies to make them drool. You also need the pickles and "double pig" (cuban pork and ham) in your sammich.

I would eat just the meat. Just meat. No other distractions. Maybe mustard. Mustard is not a distraction, but an accompaniment to gently enhance the flavors of the meat and liven up the tastebuds.

The mustard is worth making. In fact, I always skip to the "leftover" sandwich part. My co-workers beg me to make this meal because I bring them in some after I make it... and only because I make so much of it at one time.  :)

Equipment / AFEDRI SDR-USB-HS VHF/SHF - Anyone?
« on: June 04, 2017, 1901 UTC »
Looking at the AFEDRI SDR-USB-HS VHF/SHF:

http://www.afedri-sdr.com/index.php/new-afedri-sdr-usb-hs-vhf-shf-description

I currently use the HF only version of this receiver and was wondering if anyone here uses the HF/VHF version? Are there any other receivers that can be accessed via Ethernet? I can listen to my Afedri on any computer in the house over the network. Don't have to be tied to one location which is a huge positive for me.

Anything online now about pirate beacons? Would like to see some of the technical details behind them, photos, tips/tricks, etc.

Are there any in the north east US?
