Heard here in TN about an S4 via whip antenna. However, since the carrier is 500 hz off center, the pitch is shifted wrong and therefore songs are now un-shazamable. Will try to id songs as best I can.

General Radio Discussion / Decoding HDTV audio
« on: March 25, 2017, 1553 UTC »
I had an idea about using a shortwave radio that has 64 MHz -88MHz (Channels 4-6) capabilities and using it to decode HDTV audio from it. This would be similar to older analog radios and how they would be able to pick up the audio carrier of TV stations for use in emergency situations. Any suggestions about how this would be accomplished? My thought is that it would be similar to SSTV and could have a decoder program for PC.

It seems like some of you are just interested in the pictures.

Put some Dita pics up and give 'em all a heart attack, Amphetamine. That'll teach the pervs.

What exactly is Dita?

Longwave Loggings / Re: LWBC in Michigan

Just slightly above the noise floor here on 252. About an S2.

Great Show tonight, Wolverine! Really enjoyed the "Shake Rattle and Roll." Didn't log because I was installing a new antenna array at the time, but I enjoyed listening while working. Keep up the shows, though. They're about the only thing powerful enough to be received by a portable. And the signal is S9+ most of the time. (I actually have to move my radio into normal mode from "DX" mode because your signal overdrives the speaker.) Thanks.

General Radio Discussion / Digital SSTV Modes
« on: March 13, 2017, 1320 UTC »
Has anyone ever considered making a digital SSTV mode that could yield a clearer picture than an analog signal? It seems like DX'ing would be made a whole lot easier if one were developed.

Just came back from dinner after recording, about an S4 here and had to overdrive the signal to pick the SSTV out of the noise floor a bit.
