Went back to a radio-friendly work schedule this week. Scanning 160m but so far no joy. Still early in the season for us.

Pips on 7725 kc. About 48/min. Skips one every now & then. Almost sounds like some modulation on them. Using DX-150 & 30 ft wire.

Mine run about 2 Watts but I have them set to 1 W. They're all analog, frequency is a guessing game. You pick a ~50kc range you want to operate when you build it. I have pencil marks for 7030, 7040, 14060.

Listened for it a few times, nothing but thunder crashes. Just finished a remodeling project (upside was a new shack & new antennas, downside is now I'm broke). Next up are the 160m antennas. Planning a loop-on-ground & earth-mode dipole for receiving. Drift net season is just around the corner.

I have Cub's for 40 & 20, never got my hands on the 15m kit. A resistor mod can spread out the tuning range. They drift a little but not bad. Between the 2 I've done WAS & 30+ countries. had a blast with the 40m when I was /KP4. I keep the the 20m Cub in the truck with a key & inverted vee for when I'm out & about.

HF Beacons / Re: HI back from the dead 8009.1 CW 1235 UTC 5 Sep 2019

HI on 8009 kc, 0030 UTC 7 Sep 2019. About 439 with QSB & QRN. Nice to hear beacon(s) on the east coast again.

Used to work Oscar 7/8 & RS-10/11 (2m up/10m down) & RS-12 (15m up/10m down) back in the 80's & 90's. Had a blast. Doppler wasn't too bad on HF but did require some multitasking to keep up with the 2m signal. Looks like the Chinese plan to launch one this fall that's 15m up/10m down. Look forward to giving that one a try.

Oscar 7 is still kicking around but haven't heard the 10m beacon in a couple of years.

Happened to be home during a good overhead pass. Heard the RS-15 beacon on 29353 kHz, Sep 03 2019 at 1655 UTC. TS520SE & 15m inverted vee.

Huh? / Re: Car-B-Que

I worked at a major mfg facility back in the 80's. They installed these automated robots (AGV's) to pickup full pallets & drop off empties. Problem was the guys that set it up & did the collision avoidance calibration wore khaki uniforms. The production techs on the floor wore blue jeans. Needless to say once it went live we had quite a few robot vs pedestrian collisions.
