Shortwave Broadcast / WWRB 3185 A.M. 3:35 UTC 02 Dec 2019
« on: December 02, 2019, 0338 UTC »
Considering the short distance from my location to the transmitter, I'm getting a weak signal with a lot of noise.  Enough clarity to pick up the sermon.

Coming in strong, almost as good as a local A.M. station The transmitter in Issoudun France is blasting out the signal at 500 KW.

ID and Translation Requests / Is this Burmese?
« on: December 01, 2019, 0532 UTC »
I neglected to log the frequency, but last Friday Night, (NYC time) I think I picked up Myanmar Radio.  According to https://www.shortwaveschedule.com/?now=true, I was tuned into the frequency that the station was broadcasting at.  I'd like to take credit for picking up the broadcast that originated 8,405 miles (13,526.54 kilometers) from my location, as this would be a record reception distance for me.  The problem is that I neither speak nor understand Burmese.  I can pick up a number of different languages, but have no idea what this one is.  This is neither great reception, nor great audio, but some words should be recognizable.  Please give a listen and let me know whether this is indeed Burmese.  If not, then any idea what the language is?

Many thanks!

I was hoping to run into somebody who understands Burmese!

Replying to my own thread as the show signed off as WWCR - broadcasting from Nashville Tennessee.  They are all over the shortwave bands.

I normally rely on this page for information, but in this instance, they were wrong:

Classical music show.  View 2 by Meredith Monk was played at the title time.

Can't figure out the source of the transmission.  Signal is coming in strong as if it were a local A.M. station.  I pick it up just as well from 6110 to 6120.

The website for the show, (https://www.tumbril.co.uk/) does not have the program on now, and lists it as coming in at 6070.  Other internet shortwave resources don't show this scheduled for this time.

Anybody knows where this is being broadcast from?

Good signal, but fading in and out a little.  Listening to their "My China Story," program in English.  The host is interviewing a man about the declining popularity of opera.

First, welcome to the board  ;D!  I have found this to be a very fun place.

Second, I have them with excellent reception myself.

Third, your post should read something "Baby It's You". 0036 (right now) utc 24 Nov 2019.  I was corrected, appreciatively, numerous times before I got the hang of things.

Appreciate the welcome and advice.

Before I officially take credit for the long distance reception, (8,205 miles from the transmitter to my radio and a new record distance for me if confirmed) can somebody please listen to this and confirm it is Burmese?  If not Burmese, what language is it?

Did anybody else pick up this SSTV image?  I don't know what the point is, but it's too symmetrical for a false positive.

Any info on the pirates who sent it?
