This is a listed SOH frequency at short-wave.info, but given the signal strength, I'm thinking this is CNR being used as a jammer. Here's the video:

MW Loggings / KRVN 880 AM 0605 UTC 17 Nov 2019

With local-ish KIXI down in the background, I heard this Lexington, Nebraska, station come up as a female announcer gave the weather forecast for the next week (sunny and 50s, which seems warm for Nebraska this time of year), then a recorded, male-voiced “KRVN” ID played. I heard bits and pieces of it amid the jumble (KIXI, KCMX, KWIP) in the following 20 minutes or so as the station played a story-telling program.

This runs 50 kW; the distance from me is about 1,204 miles. Not sure I’ve ever logged Nebraska before on mediumwave.

Utility / 9VA-40 Singapore 6676 USB 1720 UTC 14 Nov 2019
« on: November 15, 2019, 0647 UTC »
On a decent morning for VOLMET signals out of Asia, I heard Singapore come on at 1720 UTC with a male voice giving weather conditions in English. Poor overall against a healthy noise floor, but audible at the peaks until 1725 UTC. It was just barely audible at times in the 1750 UTC and 1820 UTC time slots. Received on my radio with just the whip antenna.

HSD out of Bangkok also was audible on this frequency during those hours with a slightly better signal than Singapore.

MW Loggings / XERF 1570 AM 0232 UTC 22 October 2019
« on: October 22, 2019, 0300 UTC »
Heard XERF in Ciudad Acuña, Mexico, with what sounded like a woman hosting a talk show with a caller, some ads or promos and then ballad music, all of which matched the station’s livestream. The signal was very clear, but it was barely there at times, fading up to no better than poor most of time and affected by that choppy distance fading noise. By 0243 UTC, however, it was peaking at fair.

This one, of course, is throwing out 100,000 watts (I think that's still true, right?). The distance from here to there is more than 1,700 miles.

Shortwave Broadcast / Chinese programming on 11170 kHz
« on: October 21, 2019, 0118 UTC »
Chinese broadcast-style programming at 0050 UTC on Oct. 21 on 11170 kHz. Audible in both AM and USB mode. Off by around 0100 UTC.

This is the second time I've encountered a Chinese broadcast on this frequency in the past week. Anybody with an idea what this might be? Could it be CNR being used as a jammer for Sound of Hope?

MW Loggings / XEPE 1700 AM 0625 UTC 19 October 2019
« on: October 19, 2019, 2015 UTC »
XEPE in Tijuana, Mexico, with a female-hosted news-talk show in Spanish, a simulcast of La Tremenda AM on XESDD. The signal was weak but clear, with fade outs at times, especially after 0640 UTC. Listed as 10 kilowatts at night.

MW Loggings / KSTP 1500 AM 0730 UTC 19 October 2019
« on: October 19, 2019, 2012 UTC »
Playing ESPN radio sports talk, which I checked against the station’s online stream. The signal was fair overall to good at the peaks, with choppy distance fading on the fade outs. KSTP is one of the last true clear-channel stations that I can hear from well over 1,000 miles away in St. Paul, Minn.

MW Loggings / KTWO 1030 0430 UTC 17 October 2019
« on: October 17, 2019, 0610 UTC »
Both this evening and the previous one, while driving in Lake Stevens and Marysville, Washington, during local night, KTWO out of Casper, Wyoming, was dominating the frequency. Tonight, I heard Glenn Beck's show and then a news break mentioning where Wyoming ranks in gender pay equity.

It was completely obliterating KMAS out of Shelton, Washington, which reportedly runs with just 1,000 watts at night. KTWO used to be a near-nightly station here, but has sometimes gotten lost in the noise more often in recent years.

Glenn Hauser reported last week that KTWO is being heard more often in the Eastern U.S. these days, possibly because it's not running its directional pattern that's supposed to protect Boston's WBZ.

Shortwave Broadcast / Radio Guinée 9650 AM 2320 UTC 9 Oct 2019
« on: October 09, 2019, 2336 UTC »
Conakry seems to be reliably back for the fall/winter season out here near Seattle.

In the past couple weeks, I've heard traces of Radio Guinée in the local afternoons here, but today I had audio using just my radio's whip antenna. Listened between about 2320 and 2339 UTC today, hearing mostly Afropop music until the station signed off (they almost never stay on until 0000 UTC as scheduled).

Playing remix of "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin, then "Big Long Buick" by Big Joe & The Dynaflows at 0311 UTC.

0314 UTC: SSTV ... turned on decoder too late :(
0316 UTC: Classic rock song I couldn't ID
0320 UTC: Another SSTV ... Not readable through the noise
0321 UTC: Back to music, but getting hammered by noise and OTHR
0324 UTC: Off? Can't hear it via SDRs locally, in Idaho or in Utah
...
0329 UTC: Have it back with "Night Prowler" by AC/DC ... stopped for SSTV, which I decoded well enough to make out the Skippy ID.
0332 UTC: "Pop Corn" by Gershon Kingsley
0335 UTC: SSTV, then off around 0340 UTC. Captured one image: https://imgur.com/4tNp69s

From 0329-0340, I heard this via the NM7A SDR in Deer Harbor, Washington.

"L.A. Woman" by The Doors playing, audible out here amid a considerable amount of noise.

2256 UTC: Vintage-sounding radio bit about pitch, tone and sounds, etc.
2300 UTC: "F**kingin Heaven" by Fatboy Slim
2302 UTC: Now "Eruption" by Van Halen
2303 UTC: Synth YL voice repeating Clever Name Radio ID and Skipmuck shoutout ... then silence

Back on ... playing "In the Light" by Led Zeppelin as of 2344 UTC. The signal out here in Lake Stevens is MUCH better than it was before.
2345 UTC: Zeppelin song cut off ... silence and then "Y'All Want a Single" by Korn.
2349 UTC: "Sugar" by System of a Down.
2352 UTC: Clever Name Radio ID in that YL synth voice, plus a shoutout that I missed (might have been to KandiKlover).
2353 UTC: And I think it's off again?

« on: September 27, 2019, 2048 UTC »
Hearing some sort of electronic music via the Burke, Virginia, SDR.

2058 UTC: Some sort of skit about Southern people, then a phone skit or prank call.

2106 UTC: Suddenly off air in the middle of a prank call recording.

An interesting read about how, even in the internet age, radio is still used as a "weapon" ...

The signal's fair to good at the peaks here as of now, but lots of noise and fading tonight.
