Around 04:08 "We're going to 10,000 feet right now, i'm going to hold on my shit." "i don't think anyone has weather, what are you looking at?"

"we're locked, we're on the other side of it right now."

there was a siren tone which sounded similar to one i heard before during a military exercise a few months ago: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php?topic=59020.0

i did a search for 5757 khz and came across this post on a forum about Area 51 titled: "Thug flights on HF": https://www.dreamlandresort.com/forum/messages/44981.html

heard mention of going to a military UHF air frequency, 225.275 Mhz but they are still on HF for now.

it should be noted in that military exercise the callsigns were Thug-(number) but tonight the callsigns are "lock" and "flow' sounds like an ongoing op, still listening and recording all of this to post later.
EDIT: here is several hours of audio edited down to 16 minutes by removing the long stretches without comms: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qgDSk5as3ZHxd1PbEl2OWRkL7kK6-f90/view?usp=sharing

not sure if this belongs here or peskies but there has been a station playing music on 6985 LSB and in between songs a guy says "Hola hola hola" and whistles.

good catch! i get this around 11pm pacific almost every night. i never got around to posting it.

66
thank you for that! i had no idea K500 could do that.

67
if anyone catches an ID from the SSTV or audio let me know and i will change the title to reflect it.

68
agreed. signal fell off a lot here. barely audible.

69
0255 - song with lyrics "I'm gonna live until I die."
0257 - music ended but someone appears to be coughing into a mic over and over
0302 - previous song started again - "Live Until I Die" by Frank Sinatra
0304 - more coughing

very strong signal here on the west coast.

i guessed the theme and they sent me this eQSL!

amazing i could pick them up out here in seattle. propagation seemed pretty good the last two days.

71
not sure if you all hear it but out here there is a very loud over-the-horizon radar occasionally on the upper sideband of the signal.

great signal here in seattle. hearing
0207 I Can't Feel My Face" by the Weeknd!   :)
0210 "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" - U2

Nice signal Jasmine.  Yes, the Pacific is open to a lot of stations in/around the Far East in the early morning hours.  Some days are better than others.  In ancient times, there were these 'dark spots' on the surface of the Sun -- humans called them "sunspots" -- and they would actually enhance HF communications especially during the summer months.

Of course, these sunspots are a mystery in the cold, dark misery of present-day times.

i hear the sunspots are coming back as there was one just spotted (no pun) the other day: https://spaceweather.com/archive.php?view=1&day=08&month=03&year=2020

hopefully that news will brighten an otherwise dark time.

so all morning i've been hearing these two guys talking in Japanese and then an FSK type digital signal then more talking. signal very strong. one sounded like they were in an aircraft, so i looked up the frequency and found that it is used by Japanese Self Defense Forces. I have previously picked up the Japanese Self Defense Forces on 6727 USB talking in English with heavy Japanese accents. i had no luck decoding the FSK as i am still very much new at digital decoding. if anyone else has any luck with the audio i included (Josh?) or know Japanese and can tell me what they were saying i'd appreciate it:

sidenote: this was my first long listening session with my new Airspy HF+ Discovery SDR. i originally bought an SDRPlay RSP1a as part of a meteor detection experiment before i got hooked on HF so i am returning the RSP1a to full time meteor detection duty. i love both SDRs but especially love the sensitivity and preselectors of the HF+ Discovery on HF.

Well done jas!
