Some beacons this morning, January 10, 2016
« on: January 10, 2016, 1715 UTC »
Although I look for/at beacons often, I am not very consistent on reporting them.  With the apparent recent additions to the beacon world, Viking, Haystack, the new Windy, and others, I thought I might run around the hobby / unofficial beacons once and post what is being heard here this morning, January 10, 2016.  These are the known beacons heard this morning.

Pre-sunrise:

1444 UTC 2008.36 kHz, periodic beacon, 90 seconds and 3 minutes off, 0.15 sec dit every 2.5 seconds
1445 UTC 2018.4 kHz, periodic beacon QRM preventing accurate measurements
1447 UTC 2097.3 kHz, A, sending Morse A every 9.8 seconds
1448 UTC 4094.51 kHz, X, sending Morse X every 6.75 seconds
1450 UTC 4095.9 kHz, Viking, 3.1 second dash every 6.25 seconds
1450 UTC 4096.3 kHz, Hexie, 1.0 second dash every 2.2 seconds
1450 UTC 4096.4 kHz, Haystack, 2.3 second dash every 5.4 seconds
1454 UTC 4101.93 kHz, Windy, W followed by dits to indicate wind speed, now includes periodic "TMP XX B XXX" where TMP appears to be temperature and B appears to be Battery voltage
1458 UTC 7998.4 kHz, 0.75 second dash every 3.1 seconds
1500 UTC 8500.08 slow dasher, too weak to get accurate measurements on dashes and timing

Post-sunrise:
1518 UTC, 4097 kHz, Inyo-Whooper, for the first 20+ minutes after this one comes on the sag during transmission is much smaller and the frequency starts shifting down as time goes on
1536 UTC, 4095.92 kHz, Coxie, 5.8 second dash (pronounced chirp on leading edge) every 10.4 seconds
1540 UTC, 6625.9 kHz, Rainy
1604 UTC, 8193.7 kHz, Marin Dit, 0.15 second dit every 0.95 second
1633 UTC, 6626.4 kHz, Rocky
1737 UTC, 6700.4 kHz, Hexy2k

As normal I ran across several other ditters / dashers that might or might not be hobby / unlicensed.  Deciding what to post to this forum and what to not can be interesting.  One that might be interesting to keep an eye on is right below the Rocky / Rainy pair, I have it in my log a couple of times now:
1535 UTC, 6623.64 kHz, dasher, 1.5 second dash every 3.0 seconds

(edit) Hexy2k did eventually show up, as noted above.
